New Gametype maybe?

How about an "As close to real combat" gametype.... Forget about the fun factor, because war is not about fun, unless you are sick

... and make this like a real time simulater gametype. The gametype could have...
.Limited kits have a set number of kits for each squad, instead of a certain amount of limited kits for the whole team...
.Squads should have a set proximity around the squad, and if you go too far from it it will say the "where are you going soldier messege", or something, iono I think that would make the squads function a little better together.
.Be able to spawn around your squad, not just your squad leader
.Should have no Time limit
.Should have an invisible ticket bleed
.Should be imbalanced, as in both sides have their own advantages
That is all I could think of for the gametype, but I think it would be very fun...

What if your SL dies?
Scenario awaits us!

Thats why I said you should be able to spawn around the squad.. to encourage them to stay together.

The fixed distance thing has been discussed, and really its up to the SL to control the squad. Limited movement just means the SL can't send a fire team to come in through the back of the building.
I dont see how spawning around your squad is more realistic? If anything its less and spawning at SL would be remove too and re-inforcements must all come from the main base (though this sounds real boring, If you are arguing for total realism your going the wrong way)
Time limit is a server setting, many play with it off.
I don't see why invisable bleed is more real, don't your normaly have an idea of if your winning or loosing? Maybe just some way of showing who currently has more tickets rather then the exact number left?
If both sides have their advantages isn't that still balance? I think thats pretty much how it is now, most maps have a better position for one team...This really just comes down to the map maker not the mod itself.
I do think kit limiting per squad sounds cool but the idea is to only have a couple snipers(or what ever other limited kit) per team, limited per squad means you could have at least one per squad, meaning like 4 times the number of snipers(or what ever) on the map

You don't need to spawn on a squad member to encourage teamwork, you've got your SL, and if he's f*cking about, then theres something wrong.

True, but they could make it where snipers can only be requested in a squad of two... so one can be a spotter and a sniper...

Could always just play ArmA or Op Flashpoint. BF2 engine isn't really versatile enough to go the whole hog on realism.

Games are supposed to be fun, so I don't understand "Forgetting the fun-factor".

alot of people get enjoyment out of hard, realistic games. ie. red orchestra. one of the most unforgiving games ive ever played, yet still, one of my favorite
