Special forces vs. Common soldiers maps

Right now we have maps in which American or British soldiers face off against relatively poorly equipped Insurgents. This is compensated by the fact that the Insurgents respawn at a quicker rate to ensure the balance remains.

I was thinking, how about maps where Special Forces groups like the Navy SEALS and British SAS faced off against the typical soldiers we usually play as. These special forces teams would have access to equipment such as ziplines, tear gas, gas masks, and maybe even the UAV, but, to compensate, would have a very long delay between death and respawning.

What do you think?

Sounds cool, but they will need to make a whole new team, and that takes time

But this would result in the "I wanna be leet SAS /Seal and not those crappy MECs, Aah I'll just change team" problem :-/

There's already something such as you describe, it's called Battlefield 2: Special Forces and it was the worst €40 I've ever spent.

I personally like the concept of having "Special Forces" style maps. After all, reality wise we all agree it's sort of funny to have Marines deployed from Littlebirds. Not to mention the fact that the Spec Ops class should be removed. I don't think BF2: Special Forces is the game we should look at for inspiration, nor do we (or should) look at CS.

Look at how America's Army does their SF maps. Anyone remember Delta Force 2? They had these wide open maps where you and about 3 other guys had to raid some poor village for enemy intelligence or something. You can create some neat little scenarios with special forces too, like some Chinese Special Forces striking some top secret U.S base in Alaska.

Also, since we have permission to use content from SF, we can use some of the nice player models and such from it. Really the only work would go into creating some new weapons and maybe a few new vehicles, and creating maps to complement that.

As long as none of the special forces sides are US or GB fores then it might work. Why you say? because everyone wants to "kick the badguyz ***!" while playing starts and stripes from their diessle guzzlerz.

...mongol...

Insofar as you are talking about a different kind of asymetrical warfare it sounds great.
Leave out the zip lines if they offend people so much but give the Spec-op some advantages but also some severe limitations.
No vehicles v. MAC/PLA light armor and trucks.
Spec-Op light vehicles v. MEC/PLA armor and Helo's.
etc ....
It could also be used in changing up the extraction missions.

Or have it a "objective" map where you need to destroy certian things that can't be fixed...

They should also be at a disadvantage position-wise. Such as they have to take flags and the regular soldiers are in a very strong defensive position.

There should be a physical number advantage on the non-spec ops team.

However I think any real special forces gameplay would be better suited to another game where you don't get 30+ players online.

Though if you think you can manage an 8 vs 56 style gameplay and win.. I'm all for it.

I think also without the ziplines, special forces maps would be cool, as in BF2 SF you just had the best inf-fights, and playing as part of a Special Force is simply cool and would offer a lot of possabilitys like assymetric kits, different kit layouts and so on. It would be a lot of work, I agree, but since we don't what a lot vehicels for the SFs and the moddels are included in SF-Addon it would be worth to be done

Well, who said anything about vehicles? You could just make Spec Op vs Inf maps inafntry, so you'd have to walk...or put in some dirt bikes and quad bikes

*sigh*

I should have figured with my low post count this thread would get trolled. It's sad when people have to narrow down their focus to the zip-lines to make any sort of "intelligent" point.

Now, for those who aren't focusing on the idea of ziplines but actually READ my post:
As long as none of the special forces sides are US or GB fores then it might work. Why you say? because everyone wants to "kick the badguyz ***!" while playing starts and stripes from their diessle guzzlerz.
Why? We have maps where the US and GB fight insurgents? Now one wants to "kict the badguyz ***" on those maps.
They should also be at a disadvantage position-wise. Such as they have to take flags and the regular soldiers are in a very strong defensive position.
That's a good idea, but I think a spawn penalty would be nice as well, if only to get a sense of uneven numbers.
