give all tanks barrels collision detection

like USI's T62.... It really makes it so you need to have a sense of space about your tank. Also, it makes city driving, and I can imagine forest driving, much more difficult, like it is in real life

And for rotorblades as well!

move the tank near a wall , then move the cannon insade the wall , THEN move the tank , you will see why tanks dont have colision on the cannon .

it blows up and acts all kooky, which is better than being able to drive through a forest with trees set 5m apart because your tank barrel is a ghost. IRL tanks are limited alot by where there barrell can go, and it would do alot for maps like kygon ni, both in terms of immersion and balance

yeah , and is very realistic see tanks geting destroyed by a tree

So make a destructible tree model and have the tanks mow them down. A tank in a deep forest would be screwed, that barrel would be messed up to no end.
I am all for collision on all tank barrels and helicopter rotors.

did you know why rotors dont have colitions ???
when a blade hit a wall .....mmm.... well imagines the lag of basrah x 4

If you have collision detection and move it inside a wall...HOW did you move it inside the wall?

screw rotors thats to hard, but make tank barrel have detection, and i highly highly doubt a tank would knock down a tree, unless the tree is small or a shity kind of tree it will stand tall, they are ridiculously strong and will do what they want.

Even when a 70 ton M1 hits it going 45 MPH??
Either way i say add the destructible trees so we can have people clear the road for tanks and whatnot.

I think this would be a good idea as long as it can be implemented without trees destroying tanks.
Personally, I'd rather see collision detection on rifles.

A tank will mow down trees, small buildings, fences signs and just about anything else that a small bulldozer could.
My 1st Sgt. told me a story once about when he was a tanker at Checkpoint Charlie in Berlin. They had a bunch of new M1A1 tanks coming by railroad and one of them had the cannon sticking out over the flatcar a little bit. When the train went under an overpass the cannon hit the bridge and took out the pillar, as well as having ripped the turret off the tank and derailed the train. Luckily noone was hurt, but the tank did a LOT of damage while suffering very little.

I think someone said in another thread that Infiltration (the UT mod) had collision detection on weapons.
But collision detection on tank barrels is a must.
While on the collision detection bit, what about proneing players with their feet sticking through the walls behind them?

O_o
Most tanks don't work well with out turrets.

The turret goes back on easily. Mainly, they are held in by gravity; If you turn the tank upside-down it just slips out. If I remember correctly, the tank was repaired within 2 weeks. Most of the damage happened in the mantle (where the gun hinges inside the turret).
Edit: I just got off the phone with an ex-tanker. He says the M1 series tank can knock down a small tree with the cannon if the tree is in the path of its travel. He's out drinking right now and I cannot interpret the rest of his ramble but I think the turret has some hydraulic assist in it to help traverse it.

id like to see players heads xplode or limbs come off when hit with an m95, but i doubt that will be implemented
i like the idea with the barrels and rotors, makes the player think twice when landing/driving in a crowded area
