Project Reality Mini-Mod 0.1 General Changes:
Removed the Kill Indicator - Reduced Jumpheight & Distance - Removed Parachutes - Changed handheld weapon Muzzleflashes / ROF / Recoil / Velocities / Damages - Added 2 new materials to differentiate between 5.56, 7.62, and 9mm. calibres - Removed Sidearm - Tweaked Vehicle Physics - Gave grenades/explosives more power/radius! - Altered Sniper Rifles Damage / Zoom - Removed all 3rd Person views - Destroyed vehicle model visible time increased - Increased the shake sensitivity of the camera 2x - Supplies from Commander no longer repair damaged battlefield assets, such as vehicles and structures - Increased the sound radius of weapon discharges - etc. etc
One question about the Sniper Rifles zoom in Project Reality Mini-Mod 0.1, is it still the same with just one zoom like BF2, or has it been changed? Is there a bottom i need to press to zoom in more?

one quick suggestion: Can we have a smaller crossair for the M82A1A SASR, the crossair is so thick/big/......

Variable power optics have been experimented with and will work, but not every weapon is issued with them. The weapons currently depicted in BF2 are not issued with variable power telescopic sights, but if a rifle is implemented in-game that does have them, you will be able to select within the magnification range, probably lowest, medium and highest power.

If and when it is, I hope the zoom function can be fixed so you don't have to cycle through the zoom levels to get out of aimmode.

just give me a sniper rifle with the ability to zoom like a realistic scope should be able to zoom 2x zoom 4x zoom 8x etc etc etc

I think it should just have more magnification, not variable. Right now it's only 2x I think, make it 3x or 4x (the ones the USMC uses are 10x but I think that's too much on these kind of scaled down maps). I've only used one variable power scope, a Leupold 4.5-14x50mm, and it was pretty hard to adjust, not something you can do in an instant to go from the minimum zoom to the maximum zoom.

I just dearly hope the sniper rifle reflects the real world skill needed to use one effectively rather than the standard FPS 'noob cannon' to use internet parlance.

There would be what it is IRL..
Type-88 [QBU-88] uses 4x optic sight
Dragunov SVD uses 4x PSO-1 optic sight
M24 uses the 10X fixed Leupold M3 Ultra telescope

if the sniper rifles will have realistic ballistics and require skill then there needs to be the option to dial in adjustments. real snipers adjust there scopes for the shot. i'd love to be able to adjust for windage and drop. sniping would then stop being long range shoot outs but would be realistic.

realistic sniping would make sniping so much more fun and challenging. no longer would a sniper be considered a noob when he wipes out half your squad in 4 rounds, he will be considered a deadly exellent player.

I stil lthink you should have to find the range with binos and then enter it in for the sniper rifles. Just for a taste of realismn. Then you could end up with some really skilled players out there and the n00bs still aiming above and getting nowhere. Also moving targets would have to be a mix of entered precision and tactical prediction.

If the MK12 Mod 0 is brought into the game, it should have a variable power scope.
There are two that tend to be used commonly, the Leupold 3.5-10x M3 and the Leupold 3-9 MRT.
Most of the Leupolds on other military rifles tend to be things like fixed power Leupold MKIVs in 10x or 16x magnification. Couple of Unertl scopes still kicking around out there, US Optics seems to be the one doing repairs and replacements of them. There is some variation though, on something like a 1k yard rifle used by the AMU you might see a Nightforce 5.5-22x, some variation in the field as well but not as much.

Not a lot of need for that these days with a mil-dot reticle which is useful in estimating ranges of targets, hell even EA managed to get that right with the reticle they modeled on the M40.
But a laser range finder is usually favored with the mil-dot reticle being a backup device.

The standard scopes yes, but not all snipers uses standard optics now do they

All our sources have said the same thing, Squirrelhunter, so that's what we're going with. Good to see you around.

As for which one will be represented, there's a tough call. From what i understand, Navy Special Warfare has their preferred optic and Army SOC has theirs, but both are Leupolds.*shrugs*

Nice to see you around, I take it you saw the thread where I posted my identity? If not, excellent deduction.
Anyhow, I'm kinda waitin for somebody to start a classic "post your arsenal" thread
