Hello,
Would it be possible to code the flybyview and external views to look around the cockpit of a jet so that you can look left and right?
Also, are all the transport helicopters going to have their left and right view? (like the chinese chopper)
Thanks,
M.J.Patterson

when you press CTRL you are unable to control your chopper/plane.
All the inputs are used to move the camera, instead of your aircraft.

It would be much better if that could be implemented into the hat switch on a joystick.

You can bind the 'look behind' to your joystick; that's about its. Its a BF2 engine limitation. One tip I do have though is to rebind your CTRL key to your MOUSE1 key when flying jets/helos for your look-around. That way you don't need to hold control and move mouse to look around while you're working a joystick for flying. You just click and hold your mouse and drag around.
Be careful though, when you're in the look-around mode, your jet/helo controls stop and all the directional input goes towards looking around your cockpit as previously mentioned.

in the helicopters my fire / alt fire on my joystick move the view left and right, and if I hold them both down its front looking down? then the A-10 has a reverse view, sometimes I wasn't able to use it though, so I'm not sure what is up with it, either not allowed in xtract mode or just my controls being strange? good idea on the left mouse click for control.. I programmed a key on my joystick for free-look, the hud does disappear when you hit it but then you can move your mouse, I don't use it often.. and flying a helicopter with the side view almost always makes me crash.
you should change your mouse sensitivity for aircraft to a higher setting, one reason I never used it much was that mine was so slow I'd have to pick the mouse up 4 times to look out the side

I don't think anyone in this thread understood me...
In vBF2, there were controls to look external of your plane.. Would it be possible to code those views and make them so they are internally looking left and right out of the cockpit view specifically for the JETS.. This would help people who have joysticks with hatswitches... you would never have to take your hands off your joystick to look around... especially helpful when dogfighting...
I already have the look behind view bound to a button on my hatswitch but i want to get left and right if possible.

I think he means key X makes you look right and Y makes you look left. (Random letters, btw) Like a locked view.

yeah I understand, just like the helicopters, but you could have a cockpit left, cockpit right, and then up, could be useful when sideways looping back around for a strafe.. even left / right would be great now that i think of it..
little off topic, is there any way to change the helmet model so that the pilots have a darkened visor?

There is a program. Joy2key that one can use to bind multiple tasks to your hatswitch. so you set your hatswitch directions to emulate a mouse+mouse look at the same time. When you press left on your hat it will exec mouselook plus look left. Tho you still cant steer while looking it makes it lighting fast.
Guess i could have just said Macros lolz. Is that legal around here
