Most servers kick idle players after a minute or so.

Well they're not exactly idle. Just camping for vehicles.

yeah on Basrah, the US need twice as many troops as the insurgents, just so they have the same number ON the battlefield.

Yeah, there is a big problem with the air viechles because it seems that the USMC can lose a total of approx 10 men to just air viechles.
2xA10=2 men
2xCobra=4 men
2xBH = 2xPilots and 2x 'the stupid guy who never stops firing the minigun and wont get out'.
Where as the INS forces tend to screw about, moving in this 32 sized mob, throwing themselves at Village and then the NVCP, despite not being able to cap it.

Camping is a mild problem.
Tons of time I will see a base surrounded with troops or 3 squads and no one advancing.
One good thing about the PR tourament is that NCO will lead the troops to objectives while the SL provides a spawn point. In normal play as a SL, my troops will camp (if I'm camping) with me and not move in to the target (most of the time). People seems too scared of dieing.

Not to mention the extra people who will be competing for those places.
What I hate most is when people go for the blackhawks at the start of the game, absolutely NO NEED for them.

Yea, I was on last night playing and my squad was pretty much the only one doing something. There was another squad called "Recon" who was just blowing bridges at first and movin around that didn't help at all except for 1 or 2 times. Even though we had a total of 3 full to near full squads on the battlefield, mine was the only one actually attacking and doing something and the rest were either at the airfield when they died, or there the whole time.

We need to have some Ammo Dump defense squads.
The ammo dumps don't seem to last more than 5-10 minutes before some US player blows them up and then the insurgents are always crying for ammo.
Al Basrah has that spec-op attraction because you can lone wolf it in the rear and do some real damage to the other teams assets.

ya is thier but is thier a way to kill them when they camp at the air field. Kind of like the ins. cant have a commander he dies every 10 sec but make the time longer maybe a minute

ya I dont play Devfile anymore because of this. Its a great map when people actually play.

I think largely on ALBasrah, is where the maps have timers, and the different phases of that battle, air support, armour employment, area denial, resource denial, capture, sabotage etc only get partly done and the map finishes before the map is properly resolved.
I don't like timers (or short spawn)

Once again...
If the facility was a bleed point for usmc there would be a lot less loitering.

ya but in real life the Spec ops would run behind the lines of battle and kill ammo dumps, cars and other key assets. So really that is a real factor that the insrg. must live with.

this is why devfile needs to toss basrah 32 in to the mix...

I've noticed most servers run basra on 32 now, regardless of how many players the server supports. The airfield, whilst nice from a map point of view, just tends to ruin it with all the idiots on atm.

Totally agree, 32 size Basra is far better than the 64 version. For one thing there is far more infantry combat/ambushing/firefights ect. Plus, pretty much ever part of the city is fought over. In the 64 version, hardly ANY fighting takes place around the southern part of the city or the south-eastern suburbs near the river. This is partly because there are no flags to cap around there, but its also because the fighting hardly ever reaches that area. No such problem in the 32 version.

ya the 32 is better but that is really saying that the Us marnies got into the city and are puishing in towardds the center. GREAT MAP!

tbh though alot of the fun parts of basrah (for both teams) is due to the armor, and losing that is no fun.

the 32 player map is quite good - the cp's are a little awkward and the choppers are a bit pointless but the firefights and urban combat is excellent
the 64 player map does not work as an AAS map, for scenario yes but otherwise it's a bit of a disaster gameplay wise
