High View Distance Map TEST

As with my recent comments I have been praising the battleship mod. They have a huge view distance and nice maps where you can see the enemy practically kms away.

I would like to see this in Project Reality. However I know that it can't be on a map with much anything or people would lag as their computers suck :)

However could we test this or have a test map where at least we have armor, apcs, infantry, and perhaps one airplane or helo? Have it a barren flat desert, say in the middle of the Saudi Desert, the forces clash.

Leave terrain, statics, and everything at a bare minimum, and release it with the main v.6. This would be great, I could map it for you. Leave TEST on it and people won't complain its too laggy (at least in a regular server) due to its TEST status.

It would also allow Project REALITY"s armor system to come in play. Armor engagments at 1km or more are realistic, skill is needed, and AT weapons's zoom comes into play. I say lets try this and see how it works out. If it works out good, you would have a community response, and a way to model future Project Reality releases.

Just an idea, comment, questoins?, incite? I think it is a great idea myself :)

lol. you guys do know the map "white sea" i think it is called is my POC 8km^2 map? Making a map 8kms^2 has bugs with it where I can not find any way to edit the terraindata.raw file so i can rescale the colour and detail maps, now for there mod this is not a problem cos the map is 100% covered in water. infact, they dont even need any colour or detail textures for the map, they can delete them out of the map files as you dont need them when you have so deep water cos it makes its own flat colour it sets itself.

now we are also talking about there low pollie ships etc, they may be huge, but they are rather low pollie etc.

there are lots of reasons why you can have large view distances in there maps with lots of objects etc.

I know for a fact we are already pushing the boards pretty far with view disance in this mod we have upped the view distance for the stock maps etc buy around 20ms.

we can not do the same kinda view distances as the BS mod, there mod is very, very diffrent just accept it.

But all our vehicles look low poly from 1km away Rhino :) Im just saying a test would be fun cause we don't have armor engagments like El ALemain XXX was.

I really loved that Map, shame you guys dropped it. Reminded me of DC armor fights.....

EL AL XXL was a total discrase to the oringal El Al.

We are working on big armor battles thou, but the BF2 engine dose not handel long view distances very well atall, if you want them then you really need to play on a engine like ArmA, BF2 is just not made for it and as we are mostly using BF2 materail and our material is the same or above quility you just cant exspect it. also bare in mind that the top view distance for the BF2 engine is 1000ms, nothing like ArmA etc.

a map with loads of sea and an aircraft carrier would keep the flyboys happy for a while.

I prefer the idea of having aircraft supporting the ground troops more.

i prefer having a lot of planes destroying some statics ships (a objetive map)
