Inability/disadvantage to pick up other kits.

I'm probably going to get flamed for this idea, but:

It seems a bit unrealistic to me that an anti-tank soldier could pick up the equipment of a medical specialist and suddenly become a life-saver. I'd think it would take quite a lot of training with any one "kit" in the real military to become effective with it, and you'd been at a big disadvantage using equipment you weren't trained to.

I was wondering, have the devs given any thought to somehow disabling kit pick-up, or giving each soldier some kind of "skill set" for the kit he spawns with (for example, when using the kit you spawned with, each piece of equipment somehow works more efficently).

I understand kit pick-up is important in extraction mode and distribution of "limited kits", but I'm still wondering if BF2 is moddable to the point where we could work around this (for example, maybe you can only pick up the kit you spawned with, and the first kit you retrieve from a rally point).

Your thoughts?

It makes sense. Then again IRL you can grab a dead comrade's gun and/or ammor should you run out. Kits cannot be broken up but must all go together because of the BF2 engine.

Would this hurt or improve the game?

Mostly all that increase reality hurt gameplay ... it's really hard to find 'golden middle' . IMO , kits should be available to pick up .

I'd like to see it so you just pick up their main gun and not all the other stuff. I doubt that's possible though, thanks DICE.

I was thinking was that when you picked up a different kit then your own that you would be able to use the gun/nades/knife/pistol normally but with the special equipment mines/C4/claymores may malfunction if you use them. Say you run out of ammo and pick up an engineer kit to lay mines. Well, if you your a different kit then engineer then the mines would malfunction such as blow up as you put them down, fail to explode when a vehicle runs over them(only to explode when you go to see the problem, Roadrunner, :)
I don't really like the inability to pick up enemy kits,as Americans sometimes did pick up AKs in Nam. I think that you can pick up an enemy kit but ,to keep it realistic, there is also times where the gun might misfire or jam and become unuseable.(of course i don't think there would be a problem with the knife ;) Maybe this is to complicated to pull off. I think it would be interesting.
Just my two cents.

regards picking up medic kits etc, well in the British Armed forces at least, every single soldier has to be able to apply first aid, and will NOT pass out of basic training unless they pass the first aid test aswell.

They know basic first aid Army Musician, they are not a combat medic, hence the reason we have combat medics.

the only problem i see is that medics, following the Geneva Convention, cannot carry weapons.

They do have Combat lifesavers, who are basic soldiers who have rudimentary training in first aid. but they aren't trained in the use of a defib.

I can't remember, but I saw a picture of a US soldier walking up some stairs in with a PPSh SMG.

Medics do/can carry rifles for self denfence, however they are not allowed to be used offensively. If they are used offensively they are not protected under the geneva convention.
It is a war crime to knowingly fire at a medic or anything clearly displaying the red cross.

Also medics have to treat enemy wounded as well without favouring thier own side.
If a medic is captured he can be used to assist with any casualties.

My understanding is the only people that do not carry weapons are padres/fathers and all the other regious figures? EDIT- Chaplins is the word I was looking for.
