Insurgents and Planes

No, I don't want insurgents to have planes(if that is what you were thinking).
I have suggestions on both.
Insurgents:When I read that PR had insurgents I got excited thinking that maybe it would be like the real thing(I don't know why). Anyways, I thought it would be interesting to add something to resembal what is going on in Iraq right now. The Americans would have a 2:1 people ratio, but there would be NPCs roaming the battlefield so the insurgents could blend in to the crowd(there would also be a choice of something like hands in the weapons selection so you don't give away who you are). The NPCs would act like normal citizens. The Americans would have to go around trying to kill the insurgents. It would be hard, but they have a 2:1 size advantage.

Planes/Jets:I know that the Jets are going to get modded in.7 so here are my suggestions.Personally, I'm a fan of the A-10 and would like to see some real destructive power on these babies. I'm talking the air-to-ground missiles. One shot, 1/2/3 kills. Now if this puts the game out of balance for ya then what could happen is the man with the laser designator(when it works) would have to spot out targets for the AGM to work. Encourages teamwork. Also the A-10 can hold Air-to-Air missiles(some else mentioned this, not sure where). And for added flavor, i was thinking that because people like to fly differently(bombs for some, AGMs for others)the weaponry could be customized(BF2142)
Just some thing I thought would be interesting.

realistically, the A-10 would cause way too much collateral damage to be effective in this map. I think this will change when we get civilians.

yea especially if the civilians are player controlled and stick with the ones that use the guns... I can't wait :D

That's an amazing exageration. Especially since spawn cars respawn. If insurgents kept off the roofs, kept moving, and hid their assets under the arches (which are everywhere), then this tactic wouldn't be as effective.

I don't think I like the idea of civilians. In major battles with insurgents, think Fallujah, non-combatant people left the area before the battle. If they do not get the opportunity to leave they will be huddled in their house hoping for the best. If there was shooting on my street I'm not going to go outside and walk in front of friendlies in the hopes that I get hit and the enemy gets bad PR.

As strange as it may sound, it happens all the time.

What about a level where the objective is to cause as much hell as possible ? There could be a terror meter of sorts, which would be raised by doing various activites; suicide bombings, car bombings, opening fire on US forces etc etc. The insurgents would have several kits for each task, some kits wouldn't even have guns. US forces would have to keep their eyes peeled for strange activity, and take out the threat before they could carry out their mission. You could use a time limit, and if the terror meter isn't full when the times runs out, US forces win.

The idea would be to have the insurgents running around in death squads, targeting specific ethnic and religious groups. You could also allow the insurgents to set traps in cars, dead people and animals, etc. Another neat thing to do would be to have NPC death squads, made up of the ethnic group the insurgents are targeting, fighting both the insurgents and US forces.

I command the USMC on Al Basrah almost every day. Sure we usually win, but that's just because I'm oh so leet.

I can't remember a single time I've lost on the insurgent side. And they often do have a commander.

I think the "everytime" assertion for this a10 tactic is overrated, i have seen some very good A10 pilots be taken down with combined AAA and grail fire employed deceptively. I would put a well organised insurgent infantry side properly coordinated against albasrah anytime. A10's are just easer to make count against uncoordinated noobs.

tournament match i would predict as very close thing indeed, with unequal ticket counts. If the ticket counts are equal USMC win.

I dont think anything needs to be changed on albasrah aside from more variety on the types of air-power, and resources for usmc.

I'd like to see one less BH and add one attack LB to the USMC. The attack LB could have a squad support role, or it could patrol the desert around the airport for jihaders. Also maybe have just one A-10. It's tough for the commander to find targets for 2 A-10s and 2 Cobras, in addition to providing some level of coordination for the ground pounders.

One thing I've worked to great effect has been mechanized infantry. If you have two soldiers in the APC and four ground troops, you can have a very formidable force. You can do two squads like that, one squad with a BH pilot for maneuverability, two spec ops demo guys, one M-95 sniper on the hotel, two tanks with two guys each, one commander, and full use of A-10s and cobras. And there you've got 32. Now THAT is a winning Al-Basrah combo.
