Working instrument panels in aircraft?

Any possibility of working instrumentation in the aircraft? I'm a helo guy and would enjoy seeing a working horizon, altimeter, variometer/vertical speed meter, airspeed, etc in the cockpit. I believe ArmA has accomplished this - and I know, different game, not a mod - but if its possible, why not? I don't know the limitations of what you guys are working with either...
But I do know, I can fly the birds around on ArmA using the instruments quite well, and being a flight student its rather fun to do. Is it possible to put in this mod?
Thanks for your consideration!
Also, any possibility of a more 'realistic' airspeed for the helicopters? Today I was cruising at around 490-540 km/h, which equates to somewheres between 305 and 335 mph - much faster than any helicopter manufactured today will do:
The Westland Lynx ZB500 holds the record as the worlds fastest helicopter, a slightly modified version was clocked at 249.1 mph (approx. 400.8 km/h)

I dont know the exact conversion for helicopter speeds in BF2, but im sure the team has them realistic. Also, gauges are hard-coded so they cannot be changed.

I thought these helo speeds in game are realistic. Dont go buy the stupid speed gauge it gives you. It looks real and feels real.
Also, I dought working instruments would be on the top of their to do lists, let alone its probably barely possible.
EDIT: damnit, desert got to it before me.

I swear on my life there has been a duplicate topic about this. But I have searched myself, and I cannot find any. So this wont be locked, consider yourself one lucky guy.

Being an administrator of a forum, I know exactly where you are coming from. Trust me, search is my best friend. It would a bit hypocritical if I tore into newbies about using search and then failed to use it myself... and I didn't find anything on this so figured it was safe to post.
What I meant by the speeds of the helos is the indicated airspeed on the HUD - I should have been more specific. The actual flight speed does seem very realistic, its the indicated speed on the HUD that is not. 1200km/h in a cobra? Noooooooo. I realize this isn't FS'04 or FS :X but its a bit confusing to come tearing into an LZ and see huge speeds indicated that I know are not possible
edit:
I thought perhaps the airspeed was indicated in knots, as its just says 'km' on the HUD, which is a bit confusing in itself. That still doesn't work out, as any conversion I've tried still yields outrageously huge airspeeds. Oh well.

sorry guy, but i cannot agree with you.
i'm a helicopter crewman in real life, and i can assure that neither the speed nor the acceleration are realistic... in any way

The aircraft physics will be tweaked in the future IIRC. Don't worry about them.

Also remember that while this is a reality mod it is also a game. The speedier acceleration and speed are to increase the helicopters chances of survivability. Remember, not everyone who plays PR flies IRL

I think you easily get fooled by the airspeed cause it ads horizontal speed to the vertical 1.
for example when i get into the AH6 on muttrah to go AA huntin which is easiest done by hawkdiving in on them I start off by gaining altitude.
so I'm just increasing altitude over the carrier and the HUD shows 100km/h or even more..
edit: other way round, it ads vertical to the horizontal

Only one I found. (You've gotta get the right words to search for).

Ah, I hadn't considered that. Is that something unique to PR? I don't recall them being added that way in BF2 ( I see everyone say vBF2, is there a reason for this?). I never payed too much attention to it in game then, as it has very little use when you're trying to kill things. But for bringing a loach in or blackhawk and dropping troops, its handy for not slamming into the ground, as there is no variometer to judge your descent and collision detection with the ground can be a bit iffy at times.
I am not, and will not, argue against the current quickness and speed of the ships. They need to be fast to get in and out quickly. While it may not be uber real, its not a simulation - we don't need pilots going down due to settling, VRS, over/under head speed, etc. Just wanted to point out the HUD thing.
edit: at the gent' who stated the blackhawk has a 'glass cockpit' in real life... not quite true. Blackhawks are old ships, they're mostly analog gauges with a handful of LED indicators for things such as fuel, torque, and some warning lights. Some may be upgrading into glass cockpits like some of the C130's in the USAF are doing, and I believe the newer builds have an
option of glass cockpit, but the majority of BH ships currently flying are not glass.
The new 'hawks also have an FLIR option which gives a helmet mounted hud screen and other features. And a terrain following radar/map which may go well against the 'no mini map' crowd

There was, ages ago and I posted on it with this frankly amazing idea:
would it be possible to redesign the heli dashboard to have the casing of the instruments and then modify the hud to look like the instruments and paint it over the casings?
So the end product would be a green speedometer on top of a speedometer casing on the right place on the dashboard.

Dashboard is 3d, HUD is 2d.
This may be a problem.

it is the best we can get out of the situation, and the dash doesn't move respective to the view so I can't see a problem.

What about the CTRL-Mouse thing.
Won't it look wierd?

On these here forums its been said 1000 in the game roughly relates to 200mph.

The IAS in aircraft on this game always really confused me so i didnt look at it. 200mph is about right. When we get the Lynx i hope it will be pretty fast as a modifyed one is the fastest chopper in the world!

Well, i aint gonna trust the speed o'meters in game and yes, acceleration is quite off in choppers. However, to decrease top speed as an answer to reduce acceleration could be slightly beneficial for fixed wing, only for reducing OTT handling. However, on rotary it'd just make them more unrealistically vulnerable than they already are.
If you bump down chopper speeds, you gotta bump down tank round speeds, because it would make one of the most devastating anti-armour weapons earth has seen, nothing but a way to martyrdom(which i think most try to avoid). Then, to make tanks their current heavy weight champs(a bit too easy to use the main gun though, atm) AT weapons would have to be slowed down, making PR just a project, with a little less reality.

stupid BF2 engine they had one chance to make an awesome game and they cocked up big time. i cant belive i used to think it was "realistic" mind you before that i had been playing medal of honor and rainbow six which are both one man army type things.
anyway getting back to the topic does anyone actualy know what the current HUD speed stands for because i dont see how it shows VS and IAS together.
