A10 pilots and commanders - let's work together

Until the PR team integrates some sort of target painting in this game (which is desperately needed), we need to make the most of air support.

1) A10 pilots should start their own squad so commanders can directly talk to them.

2) The user 'caboose' suggested that commanders should spot enemies and then use the 'demo' command to mark where he needs the strike. This will allow the pilots to clearly see where a strafing run is needed instead of constantly looking at the mini map.

3) If you get strafed by an A10 and the pilot says sorry - accept it as an innocent error. Without laser designation, it's extremely difficult to accurately hit ANYTHING within the city walls.

4) If ground forces see a lone sniper holed in someplace - spot them and specifically request a strafe. (possible new command for future release? ;) ) There are lots of competent pilots who are more than willing to oblige. Just make sure you keep your distance.

That's all for now I guess.

Just so you know, we've already got a couple of threads like these.

Oh, my bad then.

I guess it can't hurt for new members though.

All the air force should be in their own squad anyway... but that's beside the point. It would be very nice to have a variety of air related requests and markers but i dunno if the engine would allow it.

I wish I had a screenshot of this but about a week ago I was flying in an F-18 squad on Gulf of Oman...

By the end of the round I had more than 1400 points and only one death... The one death was because I was talking to the commander and I flew out of bounds for too long.. :)

Can I get a witness? Can I get an amen?

Hallelujah,

Amen.

I just recently converted to PR and had my first A10 flight yesterday. I managed to rack up 38 kills because my commander would mark the areas that needed strafing.

I'm not sure what command he was using, but it put smoke on my screen so I could see the area.

Very handy.

Did a round of commanding in Devfile a few nights ago. I spent a lot of time spotting spawn cars and marking them for the A-10 squad.

At first I had a couple pilots that couldn't hit the broadside of a barn. I means seriously, 3 or 4 passes to get a spawn car that's sitting in the middle of the desert?

Then a couple new pilots took over, and they were bulls-eyeing cars that were even between buildings. It wasn't until the new pilots took over that USMC was able to cap Village. As well, these guys were picking off snipers and squad leaders that I was able to mark.

Can the A10 gun take out ammo depots?

I kinda feel like a **** when I see "Enemy Spotted!" around a squad and I go in with the A10 and kill the threats. It seems like im stealing their kills lol.

It is a bad idea to have multiple pilots in the same squad hitting the same targets without voice communication, or I've seen the opposite, two a-10s reading commander orders (i.e. hit the west side of the mosque) and then both a-10s hitting eachother mid-air.. and then one pilot punishing the other.. such BS. you know I don't let them off that easy with a punish when they were just as at fault! other than that A-10 with commander or squad support is definately an amazing thing to be a part of :) I like the idea of a commander request similar to a supply drop or vehicle drop where when the commander accepts the squads request (by clicking accept / deny) on the list it will be designated to a pilot of the commanders choosing

im one of thoes piolts who if you say to hit the mosque... i will hit the South VCP b/c im so bad at it???

sometimes.... though, lucky runs....

but it is fun to place c4 on the road... have a a-10 noob pilot fly about 10 ft above the ground.. blow him up... right behind a convoy of humvees which he then continued to run into... causing chaos and doubling my kills... leaving the survivors to be pwned by a few 100 [felt like] insurgents
