I managed to shot down one of the A-10s on Al Basrah with the insurgents' truck mounted .50 caliber gun at the facility. I was shooting at it as it was beginning a strafing run from the east to the west of the facility and it simply exploded. No RPGs were fired at it.

I also was shooting at a Cobra with an M16 on Al Basrah today and it came down. I am not sure if it was from my fire or from someone else's fire, but I saw no RPGs being fired at it.

While these incidents were fairly amusing, I think that they are bugs.

If the A10 was already smoking I don't see anything wrong with the 50 delivering the coup de grace but if it was healthy then it's got to be a bug.

I destroyed an A-10 with a shotgun once...

Severed fuel line?

IRL ? It could be but I think the fuel tanks and lines are armored pretty well.

In game ,,,, isn't it just hit points and a .50 counts for x amount of hit points and if he hit the A10 50-60 times I could see it blowing up.

IRL, an A10 would be too fast and flying too high to be hit by an ordinary .50 on a technical.

There was no smoke that I could recall, although there might have been extremely light smoke.

I guess this means that it has been fixed in 0.6, as the developers are working on making the planes more realistic in 0.6.

Well, a Warthog on a strafing run would be moving in pretty linear direction. As well, In PR, Planes have to get pretty clost to the ground to accurately hiit anything. Its possible. .50 cals are strong and can pierce armour. A couple lucky shots could blow a fuel line or the engine.

You couldve hit the pilot out. I managed to do that by accident to some bh pilots sometimes.

Since this is frankly not worth the effort, I’ll just repaste my old comment on small arms fire and the A-10.
If he managed to even destroy a A-10 with small arms fire (don't matter how long or how many rounds it toke) it's a game flaw by itself. I mean A-10s are very well designed to sustain great amounts of damage without becoming disabled. These planes are heavily armored and can withstand direct hits by large caliber projectiles.

So if this is true, then this is problem which needs to be fixed in PR, cause a Shotgun or a M2 .50cal shouldn't be able to destroy a A-10.

Let me explain something, IF an A-10 can withstand hits from a 37mm(1.457Cal) projectile then 12.7mm (.50Cal) is much less lethal and is less likely to cause much damage to an armored aircraft such as the A-10.

But, theres no way small arms should be able to take down an A-10

Saw a video of a frogfoot shruggin off 30mm HE rounds like nothing. SO it might be a bug...

I've had weirder things happen...once sniped a blackhawk pilot from behind and to the side...was damn funny to watch

One moment, it was flying straight, low above the ground. The next, it's nose dipped and it flew straight into a building.

Lol, in one of my last BFv2 games about a year ago I shot down a Cobra with a pistol.
