"Bunny Hopping!" What's your experience in PR?

This past week I have played in a handful of games where 'bunny hopping' was a reality turn-off during fire fights. I came out basically even during those gun battles, killing about the same amount of times I die. It's not all that hard to kill someone who is bunny hopping, but depending on the terrain you're fighting in, this behavior can get down right frustrating; not to mention how unrealistic a reaction to 'coming under enemy fire' it is. So two questions:

1. How frequently do you see this behavior?

2. Would limiting the Jump to 1 per full stamina bar hurt your gameplay at all? This would mean dropping to the 'red' at the end of only 1 jump and having to regen from 0 again.

From my experience, dropping the limit of jumps to 1 would not have a negative effect on my gameplay. The regen rate on that bar is at a very comfortable level IMO, maybe even a bit generous! Yes, there are maps where jumping is required to move in a tactically sound fashion, but the instances where you need back to back jumps are almost non-existant.

How about when trying to get up a curb?

sometimes you get stuck- if you only had 1 jump per energey bar you would be screwed.

edit:

If your dealing with a bunny hopper get a shotgot and blast him in the face- works everytime.

There is not too much bunny hopping in PR. Once people learn that it does not help they stop doing it. No changes need to be made.

The way it is now, you jump twice and you out of sprint. So usually I fire about 3 rounds at the bunnyhopper before he has to desperately Walk to cover. Then I just shoot him in the ankles for fun.

But this causes another problem. Because of the crappy engine, we are forced to jump over things like rail road tracks. When I come under fire I usually go prone; but when I have to jump over something so small it shouldn't matter, just to get to cover, it causes a lot of problems.

I find myself without sprint way to often, and I don't bunny hop. I think the current system fixed the bunnyhopping, but screwed the rest of us.

Maybe refill the sprint bar faster, assuming you havent jumped in x amount of seconds. I'm not sure what the devs have to work with, but it annoys me on many occasions.

I find that the problem is the influx of vanilla noobs into the mod.

I have to say I integrated pretty quickly into PR teamplay, first round I played I was the top player as medic, and saved my entire squad from death, 2nd time, I went to town with the armed little bird on Gulf of Oman WAC. Man that was fun.

But many players, especially the ones now, are the worst. I was gaming yesterday and there were SO many "OMFG MY CHOPPER CRASHED" type of people. Everyone goes USMC on Basrah to get the aircraft and I'm standing around with a dozen insurgents against 40 or so marines. The funny part is that they didn't even take village.

I don't know what to do about bunny hoping. I won't lie, I've done it before, but everytime I do it, it just makes my death that much more shameful.

ill bunny hop around a corner. its pretty much useless. i do it in vbf2, because its actually useful there. its stupid, but so is vbf2. im just being consistent. anyway, whenever i revert to vbf2 and try and run jump prone shoot around a corner, i get owned. so no problems with bunny hopping. shoot better.

I haven't seen a great deal of it in PR, but it is frustrating when it's used against you in CQB especially if all you have is an M16. I think two jumps taking all your stamina is probably enough of a deterrent. I guess its the same as wiping the paint off you when you're hit in paint balling. It's lame, it ruins the fun for other players but it is going to occasionally happen.

I came up to a bunny hopper this morning while playing in iGi. Nothing against the server, I play there quite often when our server isn't up. But the bunny hopping is annoying, although when I do get 'em, it makes it even more pleasurable. Plus, the fact that I usually roll with the squad, the hopper aint gotta chance. Maybe they'll learn, one day.

I have officially NEVER seen bunny hopping in PR, I mainly play on Thor's Brigade and TG; I can safely say that in my experience at least these servers are bunny hopping free.

This kind of drastic action is totally unnecessary.

I've seen the occasional Sprint and jump around the corner to safety.

SEE ME > SEE THE BOUNCE > SEE THE KANGAROO DROP dEAD! ;-)

I bunny hope....sometimes, i am not proud of it, it does not work in the long run, but due to REDICULOUS SINGLE SHOT RECOIL for certain weapons (people cant hit moving target as easily as in real life at long/medium range, you can buy your self around 2 seconds extra time, and that cna make the difference! :p
Want to end Bunny hopping, SUPPORT: http://realitymod.com/forum/showthread. ... hot+recoil

I do it all the time. I don't see the problem with it.

(no, just kidding; I have hardly ever seen it done in PR, and only in CQB)

I've caught the instant prone (IP) bug.

I used to kneel down on every shot, but they always shot me down because of IP.
Now I IP everywhere. I've learned to adapt.

Encountered a bunny hopper on Thor's Brigade last night on Operation Ghost Train, needless to say, I teabagged the bunnyhopper after unloading some 7.76mm rounds into him. :D

Thanks for the responses folks, I guess my main point is that I'd like to see it discouraged as an immediate reaction to coming under fire, or clearing a corner. IMO, it just plain ain't realistic. It works in the game because the jump is so high that it gives the jumper an advantage over the stationary soldier covering that side of the building.

Maybe instead of limiting the amount of jumps, there could be an accuracy hit for a few seconds after jumping?

Have you ever jumped in the air, twisted in the air as you cleared the corner of a building and fired an assault rifle? And if you have, how accurate were you hitting your target?

EDIT: I hope you folks understand I'm not arguing with the fact that a bunny hopping tango can be shot down just as easily as a strafing tango, it's more important to me not to see it in a realistic setting such as PR.

Would be nice to include a jump timer, but I don't know if its hard coded or not.

So every time you jump, you have to wait a few seconds to jump again.

I just recently experienced this on the 24/7 muttrah server. I was really pissed, and I was getting really frustrated. I want to go to this little kids house and strangle him.

It would be nice when the normal jump altitude would be reduced so that we can jump over little 30cm high things with not much stamina costs.

And then we could do the now normal jump through double tap the jump key with much stamina costs.

I rarely see bunnyhopping in PR.
