Deployable M2 50cal

I know this has been vaguely suggested before but i think this would add key realism to the game.

Ok this is my idea, The British and US forces have a request kit which they get:
Knife
Pistol
M2 Heavy machine gun
Ammo Bags
The M2 takes 40 seconds(maybe longer) to deploy to avoid weapon spamming and base rape. The gun can overheat and be destroyed by SLAM or C4 maybe grenades. This would be an amazing addition to PR and would defiantly achieve Reality.
Ok, I havent forgot about MEC Insurgents and China
A Kord 12.7 for MEC and Insurgents

And a Type88 for PLA
Tell me what you think, Joe

Me personally, I like the idea...alot. My thoughts on what it on the udr of it.
1) make it take 1 min to deploy.
2) No ammo bags(this will be a weapon that the Squad and team could use rather the one single person)...teammates could resupply.
3) Have only 3 available throughout the whole game. No matter if they are destroyed or not.
4) Make it take 1 min to "repack" the M2 and move somewhere else.
5) The OpFor may capture the weapon but cannot resupply with there ammo packs.
6) It can be destroyed with just one single slam. Not grenades
6)

Make the gun impervious to grenades except a lot of them.
Slam should be used to take it out.

actually a great idea. could set up a hell of an ambush with one of those things... and you can take out cars etc without having an AT around.. me like the idea!

Great idea, it would be very useful for example on Al Basrah looking down the road at the front of Facility or something which would maintain a strong position where attacks can be continually launched from instead of having to re-fight over old ground. I kinda agree with Dirtyboy, it should be more of a squad/team asset than a single kit maybe? I remember FH had something similar to this but can't remember for the life of me how it worked in game. It would be very useful in conjunction with that talk of Commanders deploying sandbags/bunkers/fire bases. This could also be a deployable commander asset maybe?

If this is put in, give the kit no sprint. At all. In fact, make them even slower than regular soldiers, if that's possible. An M2HB weighs 38kg even without ammo + boxes, spare barrel(s), and tripod.

Yeah i was thinking about the spare barrels but i don't no how we would use them? or replace them. I would LOVE to see these implemented into PR especially on the long range desert maps. Could set up some mighty kill zones on muttrah with them.
Yes i like the Idea of having say a Fire Team like agent orange and Dirtboy suggested 1 man has the Ammo another has the gun.

Love this, and the game could defo support it, Sandbox mod is a prime example.

Do like the idea of deployable M2.
Don't like the idea of it being a kit for multiple reasons. A one man M2 seems like a tank of a kit.
Don't have any suggestions on how it could be done right.

I agree. At the least no sprint should be implemented in this sort of kit.
In response to OP. A 40 second delay timer still wouldn't prevent base rape.
Unless you are talking about the timer for moving arc of fire as well...and even then. With a 360 degree turn radius on that mother there would be difficulty in removing it from a good position.
+Ammo bags == far too much.
Small, mobile, specialized, deadly. I wouldn't want any other kit, haha.
One thing you haven't specified is whether you'd like the M2 part of the soldier (with the delay and animation of setting up the M2) or a deployable weapon. Two very big differences there.
In any case the Devs probably already have their hands full and this seems like a chore and a half. I'm not saying the idea couldn't be a good one if it was implemented correctly though.

Not many BF2 mods have deployable heavy mgs but this seems like a good reason to include it.

Seems alright.

It may seem alright but when you get shot in the head everytime you try using it, it will just be another nuisance.

Sound like a nice idea but i don t think it would play out to well in game, plus it seems a lot of work to make such a thing.
Why not just use the 50 on a vehicle.
If you set up the m2 thing you still have limited line of fire in the maps we play, and every one in the neighborhoud will want to kill the guy on the Mg soon as they hear him tear away.

Especially if it takes 1 minute to "pack it up" again.

Yes, that is funny. I wouldn't like it as much if you had to fire from a standing position like you do from those stationary ones.
What would be cool as **** is an M2 that you could change the height position on. From standing (1) to sitting (2) to prone (3). Stationary or not.

I'd love to see it!

I like the idea... Forgotten Hope mod for BF1942 had deployable machine guns... Wonder if it's possible on the BF2 engine...

Robbo, this hasn't been "vaguely" suggested before, it has been specifically suggested before. Multiple times.
And it would not add "key realism" to the game, since there is no way in Hell that one man is going to carry an 84 lb weapon, its tripod that weighs half as much, and ammunition cans weighing around 20 lbs.
