Aircraft escort

ok so this is a pretty intense one, but i think it would be VERY fun for our pilots. basically you'd have to escort a slower cargo plane from one end of a very large map to another (this kind of depends on the 64 sq km maps getting made, but maybe it could be done with waypoints on a smaller map somehow?). anyway, the opposition gets a few migs and engages the american forces. migs have the advantage of speed, since the american fighters have to stay with the slow cargo plane. land forces would take up AA stations around the map. american forces will attack these heavily fortified positions.

i think this could be fun with 10 people or 64 people, but i dunno if it would be fun if there were about 24-32 people? anyway what do you guys think?

and i looked on search and the already suggested suggestions, but sorry if its a double post.

64 sq km is not possible AFAIK.

Also, Not Doable codeing wise i bet, Also it would be very hard to do it for the Defenders of the Cargo Plane as they will not be able to tell the Postion of Oncoming Aircraft, so such a thing is not possible, lock please.

I dont think there is any reason for a lock Knife, its just probably not possible with the engine. This sounds to me almost like a whole other mod

Well lets keep in mind that there just aren't enough jets to go around. Not to mention creating the cargo craft would present some problems. Perhaps escorting a small boat with helicopters and pontoons against a similar enemy force would be more feasible? Hmm, I should make a poll for this. See if anyone has a similar idea?

Not exactly what you're asking but perhaps you could have a Crewman need to stand next to a jet "preparing" the jet for take off, because you don't just jump in a jet and take off. The wait time could be like a minute, not too long but long enough to deter newbies who cant fly.

Sorry if it's been suggested?

This is very do-able... I really hate when people that have not a clue say something so stupid.

It's possible to have python coding that has an autotonomous object travel in a vector for x-amount of distance...

I swear, I know I'm not suppose to be angry at people with extra-chromosomes because they can't help it, but sometimes it just angers the shit out of me. :(

You act as if there is a logistics problem... Guess what <DRUM ROLL> Jets can be added in these maps... No need to get approval from Congress for funding, lol.

so because it would be hard for the americans to "tell where the enemy is coming from" it wouldnt work? thats some real vanilla **** right there dude. "OMG NO UAV!!111? I CANT TELL the position of oncoming ENEMY SOLDIERS!!!111 LOL". thats the point? how is that not clear?

and it is doable coding wise, look at escort with that pimp *** suburban FTW fo sho! its the same idea, just with different ingredients. its like every single mexican food dish. all delicious, but its the same things -- meat, cheese, tortilla, vegetables. same thing.

anyway @caboose, they can put as many jets as needed on specific maps? not sure what you mean.
@desert fox i think they are working on fixing the 64 sq km map issue. one of the R's said that in the aircraft thread.

all it would be is a certain kit would be needed to fly the cargo plane. only 1 kit on the map. fo sho!

I could be wrong but are the new "big" maps not 17km sq?? I have not heard about the 64km sq maps?


Kensi, what is with the hostilities? Perhaps your points are valid and you may have some excellent contributions towards this thread. But your method of delivery almost guaruntess that most people aren't going to listen to intently with the attitude. :grin:

Well, it could be a nice idea for Xtract map...escort a boat and have vehicles on each side to fight off any AT, that might blow up the boat...

Sure, a bit complex with a cargo plane, and we dont have 64x64 km maps...altough Joint Operations has them, takes a while to zoom out on the editor screen :P

this is not a suggestion for .6, i dont understand why the map issue keeps coming up. we know that the devs are trying to make 64 sq km maps (thats not 64 by 64 by the way. its 8 by 8 = 64 SQ km), so this suggestion is for IF that happens. and then IF it doesnt, then what about way points?

and i dont think what kensei said was that offensive. he and i were talking about it, and that "lock please" post was just about the most absurd thing ive ever heard. not possible with the coding? what is extract then? think before you type, or you will be justly insulted.

I assume you have a gavel and decide on that limit? Did I say anything about race? What did I say that was so horrific?

And Like El Vikingo said, how long would this map take. You could cross the map in a matter of minutes, it would be over to soon.
Maybe better to defend some stationairy ground object, headquarters building or radar installation or something. Just make it so that ground forces enemy cant reach it.

Look at DCon cargo plane make 1 that a player must fly(like a VIP) and make it so they must defend it like Extraction mod(new way to do it maybe)
