Realistic body damage

I think it would be cool if the models had realistic entry and exit wounds along with blood trails instead of puffs of dust or little sprays of blood. For example the way it is in Global Operations or Soldier of Fortune. Also instead of a health meter there could be a picture of your soldier similiar to Americas Army and depending on where you're hit you start to slowly lose blood and can no longer move as quickly or jump. It would also be cool if dead soldiers didn't disappear after they died so after long games it would look like the real aftermath of a battle. Oh ya and when you're blown up by grenades or shot by a tank the model should actually blow up instead of flying through the air for 10 seconds (although its funny to watch). :D

Someone may have posted a similiar topic but I just joined and haven't had time to go through all the suggestioins.

Although it does sound like a realistic and interesting way of doing things BF2's engine may not be capable of doing this, and if it could, it would take alot of coding to do... So if it is possible we ill look into it, but don't get your hopes up. Welcome to the forums btw!

x2 welcome. If its possible without the devs pulling out all their hair, it will be done.

Bodies exploding? Dozens of corpses lying around? Impossible on the engine. Bodies fade for a reason.

I don't think bodies actually blowing up is possible.

I do think that its possible to make it so that when you are shot, there is a 'bloody entry wound' decal that appears where you where shot, like all the walls and fences you can shoot that get bullet holes.

If that's possible, you could probably have an exit wound, as bullets can be programmed to travel through bodies, so it could make an exit wound as well.

Welcome!

It's possible to make an entrywound, however an exit wound isnt possible, it's a new feature of BF2, however its a littlebit hidden.

I like some of your ideas like locational damage effecting your performance. The gore part is something I think is unnecessary though. I would rather see realistic ragdoll physics, people blown of their feet but not flying 30 feet through the air.

It would be very cool but like said allready its not reasonable for a game to take on such a complicated system. EA go for eye candy over physics it seems, afterall thats what sells the game in the first place.

I would however love to see blood simiular to CSS that stains the floor etc. And with the bleeding you could have a basic small blood trail that lasts mabe 5 sec but it would be very cool to see.

That is retarded. I KNOW that was in the original trailer, which means they axed it. DAMN THEM!

But, it's hidden? Does that mean you just haven't figured it out yet, or its so ungodly complicated it probably can't work...?

Oh well, at least entry wounds are possible. That's good enough. Can you get it working on a player model well?

And, about the physics, ya, they still need a bit of tweaking, mainly with the sniper rifles I think. When you shoot a guy with an m24, he should crumple, like a ragdoll (lol), not act like a gorrila just uppercut him, as he flies up 2 feet and then falls. the rest of the weapons seem to be working... okay.

The ragdoll system needs help. hopefully 1.03 patch will debug it a bit.

welll id like to see one shot to the body a critic wound and leg u lose half health and start bleeding now that is not impossible ! i think :D
