Have the SF guys start with a parachute option, but no "Ammo" for it. Have the BH equip them with one after about 2-3 minuites of being in the BH. It would allow SF units to use BH's to insert into areas A LA HALO jumps (sorta), and would risk fewer choppers.

You do realise HA of HALO stands for High Altitude right? A Black Hawk cannot fly at high altitudes......
Also, search.

Also, IIRC parachutes = hard coded. If you have one they behave exactly like vBF2 and cannot be changed in any way, including the ammount of "ammo" it has.

if you are talking about ingame, then nothing can fly at high altitudes. (at least not yet)

if you are talking about real life then a blackhawk can go to almost 20 000 feet.

Mammikoura beat me to it. I was also going to comment on the BH's maximum service ceiling. As for what Bob was saying, im not exactly sure how hardcoded they are. Im sure that if they can be taken out completly, there is some tiddling allowed.

Then you could have a SL in a BH hovering over the objective and just pooping troops. It would be just like in 0.4, except with an extra 2 minute wait.

yep, but with the current speed 5 guys once every 2 or 3 minutes is not going to be that great. They might even be more usefull if they are approacing by foot. (since then it takes 30 seconds to get back into game, which is a lot less than with the chopper) And with a well placed rp the walking distance to the objective would be only like 30 seconds. So unless there is like 3 SLs on a bh I don't see this as an overpowered tactic.

I do know what HALO stands for, which is why I said (sorta).

Except this way your guys land instantly in their base, bypassing any defense. And that kind of sucks on a map like Jabal where the two beach CPs rely heavily on a perimeter defense.

I know how you can make this work. There is a paradrop plane the U.S. uses, not sure wat it's called but i know it's prop-powered and has a big opening in the back for paradroppers to jump out of. Anyway, model one of those and make it simmilar to other aircraft in that you can pick up pilot kits when near them, only with this plane, you can pick up the pilot kit or a special "Paratrooper" kit which comes with a parachute. The plane would be able to fly at high altitudes and would be slow, making it perfect for paradrops.

I suppose you could also use the plane as a UCB; u could parachute out of it and land in a zone with supplies, vehis, etc. to spawn

Well, a Paratrooper kit is a nice idea...but then you couldnt use anything else, so inserting a SL to set a rally point isnt gonna work :S..maybe just a "special" air raid...like dropping a few guys to secure a rooftops...

Make the plane drop a crate/item (ie, spawn it on command with long reload time), and then allow people to change kits near that crate (including ordinary kits), using the system already in place.

Alternatively, make such a crate eject a couple of kits after a set period of time.

Yay for complicated suggestions.

Cause everyone will be playing Duke Nukem Forever by then.

Why not just land your chopper? If it's too hot, you probably shouldn't be allowed to insert guys there anyway.

Yeah....... The whole max ceiling height concept is lost on people here isn't it....
Also, modelling a C-130J/K is not just something that can be popped out in a week (by modders).

Would be kinda cool to have a AI C130 circling an area, and have guys spawn in it -- like an Uncap that gives kits...it would take a sub faction maybe (para-USMC or whatever), but would be cool.

Lazy devs ;)

I really feel claustrophobic in the current maps, I could not see anything larger than an A-10 on Al Basrah, hopefully the 17km maps can open the doors to heavy aircraft.

Maybe... I don't know, we'll see in the next release!
