Various small suggestions

1. Squad name tags on HUD

Sort of simple thing, just add the persons name under the arrows (the ones i indicated on the SS). It is awkward to tell who is lying beside you because you are so close to them so you have to back up a bit so you can see there name above them which takes about 7-10 seconds, vital seconds when in CQB. IRL people would know who each other were because they trained/fought with each other for so long.

2. LZ waypoints for transport helo pilots

Simple thing, well sounds it. A squad leader gets 2 extra way points. LZ "Landing Zone" and EZ "Extraction Zone". A SL places them down like any other waypoint and only pilots in transport heli's can see them (or all pilots, which ever is easier). They just give a clear indication to transport choppers of where the SL on their chopper wants them to go.

3. Mark multi people as 'friends'

This was in BF:V and it was handy in clan games to mark your squad with a different colour tag. But it is also useful in PR. With this ability, people in squads can mark other squadies that are in their fireteam (if the SL assigns them) with a different colour and there would be no confusion when trying to maneuver with your FT.

4. Formation markers

This would work just like in OFP. The SL can choose a squad formation using the 'T' comm rose. A orange square appears on the squads HUD showing them where they should be in the formation. A different position will be assigned to each squadie depending on the order in which they joined the squad.

Well what do ye think? Possible? Worth while? What?

1. Don't really think it's needed. Though I wouldn't mind if it was implemented

2. Would be usefull sometimes. Though this can always be done through the commander, but having LZ and EZ markers would make it easier.

3. Would be very usefull. If this is impossible then maybe a way to see who is who from the minimap. Maybe like add a number under the green spot on the minimap. (like number 1 for the 1st guy in the squad, number 2 to the second guy etc.)

4. Don't really like this suggestion.

yeah same as above the SL can simply tell his men what formation to adopt and if they aren't to stupid they'll adopt good positions in the formation

1 - Not sure i want anything extra on the 3d map, i dont really use it as it creates screen clutter i dont like. If your buddy is in visual you can just point at him to get their name.

2 - I really like this idea... could be expanded upon for airstrikes and the like.

3 - Not one for me, just a pub player. And i'm used to using the squad page for finding 'friends' etc.

4 - Yes i like the idea, however as a SL i would find it more useful to have general orders rather than formations
i.e. Defence, Stealthy Movement, Clear & Destroy, Double Time Movement, etc....

Edit : And yes there is no substitute for voip.... but not everyone speaks the same language, PR is a very diverse community. I would give non english speakers a greater role as Squad Leader. (Most of the populated servers ask for English only on Voip)

I'm liking the formation thig provided people actually use it and obey it. As for the new waypoints, I was once in a game where a very rare, excellent heli pilot was in our squad and did an excellent job. He circled around wherever we were fighting, ready to assist should trouble arise and at one point the SL even threw a smoke, told the pilot to land there for extraction, and the guy made a pinpoint landing RIGHT ON THE SMOKE. If only there were more of those guys around....
