Binocs for everyone?

Ok so there has been a few threads regarding the trouble identifying the enemy on some maps. Some of the new maps are going to be huge as well view distances will be increasing. The anti personal kit currently has binocs but is soon to be phased out in 0.6. I find the binocs to be very usefull at identifying targets and even allow me to go head to head with and M16 vs. the scoped PLA rifle. Some kits currently have them but not all.

So should all of the kits for the USMC, PLA and MEC have bincos in their kit? Why or why not? If this is a tonne of work for the Devs then I appologize but I can only assume it would be a straight forward fix.

no, because if all the kits had them it wouldn't be realistic

Soldier's aren't equipped with bino's in real life. Therefore they arewn't in PR, I guess. Besides, by the time you've whacked them out, zoomed them in, had a look, drawn your rifle again, lined up the shot and pulled the trigger, your already dead.

Plus, it makes it necessary for you to communicate with your officers.

hehe well.. rather than give binocs to every class, we want more folks to play the classes with Binocs (effectively resulting in there being more binocs in the field).

Rifleman gets binocs in v0.6 and .. realistically speaking .. a good portion of the folks in a battle at any given time should be Rifleman (there's some other stuff that makes them an attractive class in v0.6 and future versions).

Quality. This is a pretty poor reason for given more classes binocs BUT due the BF2 engines poor ablility to draw detail a medium and long range, or for a matter, draw a number of objects at range (see hills, but peeps on them are invisible, or almost - sure a 300m in reality would not be so) and Binocs enable you to see these people. Hopefully, then resulting in players firing in the general direction = more long range fire fights! HURAY!

I think maps that are not shrouded in fog 250m out will contribute more to long range firefights than Binocs ;)

MAny factors do "contribute", and yes, you are probaly right about the removal of fog being more important, i cant say how much more, dont think any one can really, but i still think the old benocs will play a bigger role than many like to think...*WIZZ WIZZ THUD THUD* "Arhhh, WhrTF did that come from"! *300m away TC's squad rolls on...*

target identification is a very real problem on the modern battlefield, it only makes sense to have a challenge in figuring out who to shoot at here too.

YES please, but if not all at least the majority of kits. It really helps me play tactically, being able to view troop movements out of range. I love Bins
I often play AP just for the bins.

Not realistic... hmmm i'm no military man, but if was sent into combat without bins, i reckon i'd get myself a small pair anyway. Gotta be useful. Equipe yourself soldier!

First of all thanks to everyone for the comments. I have to admit I am surprised that the majority of people (60+%) don't favour this idea. Thank you Devs for putting binocs in with the riflemans kit in 0.6. I think that little addition is huge. As Eggman said better to encourage more people to use that kit vs. more bincos available.

I would say this topic is now dead, click click bang!
