Shouting radius?

Would it be possible that when speaking over VOIP, everyone on your team within a certain radius of you would also hear what you say?

There's a lot of times I'm next to other players who aren't on my squad and I need to communicate something with them, but cannot. It'd be great if there was a "shout" VOIP to talk to everyone within 5-10 yards of myself.

This would be exceptionally useful in transports. The "Bail Out" doesn't normally cause the driver to stop. I just want a "shout" VOIP a lot of the time.

While I'm on this, I'd just like to throw out there that one day games with VOIP need to incorporate directional VOIP. If someone behind me speaks, I want to hear it from behind. Obviously if they're talking over a comm channel it should fill the speakers as normal but it'd be nice to move around in a squad and hear the person like I would in real life.

oh, this is a dream. this feature is very useful if it can be implemented.

Vanity, there is a time in a boys life where he must learn the facts of l.......*TC breaks down crying*.......well, there are just somethings in life that are good but we know really in our heart that we should not ask, try or even dream about......*TC takes a breather*.....and this my Son is one of them.

I think it has been 'suggested already' ;)

good Idea whether it is possible or not, I dont know, though it would be nice, for sections to talk to one another or at least Section Commanders. by pressing b+1 to talk to 1 section, b+2 to talk to 2 section etc..

Someone give me one reason, why VoIP is hardcoded like concrete?

IMO, EA probably doesnt want people to rip it out of the game and use it...

I probably shouldv'e posted this in the suggestions area. Sorry about that.

Because DICE's programmers are all monkeys.

Wasn't DICE responsible for turning BF1942 into Desert Combat? Which paved the way for BF2?

You gotta give them respect for that. I used to play DC literally 12-14 hours per day, even going home during lunch to play.

Aldo idea sounds nice you must know how VOIP vorks.

Ever ben on large Team Speak server? Yes!
...Well you need to create room and have people in that room to comunicate.

You could have multiple rooms but comunication would be too chaotic...

Now imagine every player in game is one room and people are comming in and out of his room when in certain radius...

You will get 64 rooms and multiple entrys and exits every second... now this woul be so chaotic that youll need special server just to handle communication.

Maybe in few years when connections bandwith rises up by factor 10 we could have this feature (offcourse real 3D sound is a must have in order to know who is talking and where he is positioned).

DICE made BF42. A mod team made DC. DICE then absorbed the mod team (at least a part of it), and what came out of that was BF2.

You know what, the really early stuff iv seen from BF2 makes it look 100x a better game, just a little more scratchy graphics. It actualy looks like they attempted something realistic! I bet they came up with the stats idea after, which caused them to make it more arcady to attract numbers and $.

Imagine DICE going on its own, and creating a mod for a game, they developed, and since its a mod, they can give it out for free...EA would be pissed as hell :P

It probably went something like this:

DICE guy: So, here's our laser painting prototype...
EA guy: Ok, when can we start making money off your game?
DICE guy: Well, it's gonna take us another week to finish--
EA guy: Wait, a week? We could be making money off this now. Seriously, people who get in planes don't want to work for their team... Uh, instead, add a pacman machine to all airfields so people don't get bored while waiting. You with me?
DICE guy: Y-Yes. We could get on it, but--
EA guy: Yeah, in fact, forget it. Just slap something shiny on the game... Like, uh, stats. Make it like WoW, so people want to play for ages to get more points... Points, and better weapons, there we go. In fact, we can give people who buy the 20 expansion packs that your contract specifies more weapons, so people want to buy all the **** you **** out. Oh geez, this is gonna make us so much money.
DICE guy: Ok, we'll, uh, get right on it... Though I don't think this is such a good idea.
EA guy: Yeah, whatever. In fact, release that demo you just showed me as trailer. Yeah, that'll be great. More hype. So much hype we'll sell friggin thousands the first day it's out. Yeah!

Actually it probably went like this:
DICE Guy: We're still mostly in a development phase
EA Guy: Well when you decide you want to drive a new Porsche instead of that '82 Jetta, you let me know, ok?

(48 hours later)

DICE Guy: It's ready to go gold.
EA Guy: Great working with your team.

Takes code, hands over paycheck. Life goes on....

Im mildy irritated*cough* woops, meant sorry to inform you that this has been suggested before. results can be found under VOIP proximity and im quite sure VOIP is as hard coded as you can get.

Case closed.
