I was just in a MP game on TB and in the US LAV.
Anyway an MEC L-AT comes up behind me goes prone and fires and hits me. He wasn't extraordinarily close (which could explain a normal hit). But the suggestion is: only firing AT from crouch and standing (I'm not sure if prone is realistic) and deviation.

im think this only applies to the insurgents but firing an RPG from standing or even crouching is very inaccurate

Don't worry, L-AT will be limited in 0.6...so people wont be wasting RPGs on you anymore...just don't come complaining about assault rifles then...

Just because I noticed it whilst playing... I usually do well enough to not complain
Anyway it's just being able to pull it out and launch it (in a minimal ammount of time) after changing positions too. Standing to prone *fire* no time for adjustments. I could understand if the RPG had a guidance system (but it doesn't)

aiming an RPG prone would be extremely awkward, i dont think you could aim effectively and still maintain a safe firing stance for yourself or those around you.

Even if the backblast burned your feet off?

You'd have to be laying on your side and firing perpendicular to your body I'd imagine.

The only way you can safely fire a LAW prone is like this:

I remeber seeing a picture where an RPG was being fired from the prone position. Usually, it requires a bipod like this:

I swear that the backblast would still get your legs if you fired it from a bipod like that.

agreed if you fire an rpg parallel with your body while prone you will most definatly blow your feet off at the least. unless your some acrobat and can wrap your feet around to touch your head.

We learned to be in 60° angle to our PzFst3 to avoid the back blast when it's fired in prone position.

The actual angle which would be considered "safe" can vary from weapon the weapon because different LAWs use different ways of propelling the projectile out in the initial launch phase, some use ABOL rocket boosters, some Counter weights and so on.
Also the shape of the exhaust must be taken into account.

yes in .6 the L-AT will be replaced by giant rocket firing statues
why did you post that image wasteland?
i thought you could fire a RPG while prone, your legs just had to be at a 45 degree angle from it.
i cant see how this would be implemented in game though,

I would like to point out that you cannot fire the RPG 7 from prone because the rocket motor does not kick in straight away, and it falls about 1-2 (or even 3) feet before it fires. So from prone the RPG would hit the ground in front of the firer, killing or wounding him, and his fellow squad mates.
