Hey guys, jst wondering, you know when you speak on VOIP and a little green speaker symbol or summit like tht comes up, and if you speak loudly then it turns red, when the icon is red does it mean no one can hear you beacause your voice has been disabled? or is it jst telling me that i'm speaking to loudly? :-)

sometime when a mate is talking aside the VOIP icon there's his name, sometime not.
Can that be correctable? It's very useful know who's talking without press caps-lock to see the squad list.

In a decent squad they tend to say who they are before they give the message. Thats a BF2 bug anyway.

Also, your voice is disabled if you talk to long, its just a green icon with a red cross.

yeah it sux when you don“t know who is talking especially when your squad is diveded on defferent parts of the map.
But just state your name or class ( ie rifleman, medic) that solves it for me

I noticed that it's usually green when I'm making sarcastic remarks about something while running through the desert for 5 minutes, and red when I'm trying to communicate something while there's RPGs exploding around me and LMGs chewing at the low wall above my head. Curious.

About 50% of the time the guy talking does not show up in the bottom left of my screen. That is really annoying, BF2 bug perhaps? I only noticed it once I played PR but that's probably because vBF2 does not use voip much.

The Icon turns red when its peaking, much like the level meters on a stereo....

Though it seems best to have it just barely peaking, so its just barely clipping the loudest parts of your speech...
It doesn't seem to really sound distorted until your mic is turned up so loud that it is peaking the whole time your speaking

Red Icon = You are exeeding your recommended loudness for the day =)

aka youre "clipping" - an audio term meaning your input voice is louder than the settings allow for - resulting in audio max-lining/clipping of your sampled voice.

Yeah, so for god's sake, turn it down or else your voice can be unbearable to listen to.
I had an SL who maxed his mic gain and his voice was hideously distorted AND he was German, it was like listening to the Nuremburg Rally whilst having your ear attacked by a cheese grater. I had to leave the squad, which was a shame as he was pretty good.
