Out for a Week - Gaming box is down =(

Hello all PR players and Squaddies,

Just like to let you know that my gaming box "is down". Tried to reapply thermal paste to my overclocked CPU, and now my box won't boot.

It'll probably take me a week to get things re-purchased and up and running again. Till then, I hope you will all find solace in the arms of other SL's - and hope you find some good SL's up on the pub servers!

Cheers.

- JuniperM40.

Stupid, stupid Juniper.

Och a week isn't even that long! Could be worse, could be held at gunpoint by a fat guy in speedos.

Why would you overclock? I mean I understand why on a basic level but with the price of CPU's nowadays losing the warranty just doesn't seem worth it.

It tends to be easy enough.

Intel's e4300 chip costs a little over £70 and it's possible to overclock it to levels equalling that roughly of an e6800.

Overclocked Athlon XP 3200+ to 2.34 Ghz, 425 Mhz FSB, w/AGP 8x 7600 GT.

Warranty? Haha! I custom build all my own gaming rigs. This one has lasted me since 2001. (w/approproate CPU and Gfx Card upgrades). I guess it's time for me to invest in a new MOBO and Gfx card (yeah, no PIC-X, no 800 Mhz bus, no 4th gen CPU support on this one - but the RAID-1 SATA was nice to have since 2001 hehe)

See you all soon.

Always good to have an excuse to splash the cash.

Overclocking is good. My 4400 X2 at 2.7GHz (from 2.2) saves me a couple hundred bucks.
