It does have a delay.

errr "to have a 1.2-5 second warm up"

what do you mean.. how long a warm up do you want?

I was pretty sure it doesn't have a warm up time.

It's a case of pull the trigger and it fires immediately as far as I know.

Enough time for him to run to cover before the A10 fires any rounds is the time he is asking for.

2.5 seconds delay.. doing a guestimated 400 km/hr, it would be impossible to hit anything.

Anything over 0.5 seconds would be unreasonable IMO.

But i think its fine as it is.

If there is a warm up time in the real plane then please add it to the PR plane because the A10 is devestating in the right hands and a legal nerf to the that gun would be great.
But if thats not how it works IRL then don't touch it.

Agreed. Though I'm not 100% sure either.

If Lock On is anything to go by it's instant, and the weapons are modelled pretty accurately in it.

The Avenger is instant as, errrrrm, it's needed instantly sometimes. The electronics that control the system are the warm up and they're on constantly.
It'd be pointless having a delay in a RL battle: "Enemy armour! Ahh, shit..... the warm up, I've just flown by them."
Because the Avenger is normally fired using 1 or 2 second bursts (70 rounds per second), warm up would be unfeasable.

It's a gatling-style gun, as far as I know. Even if it has a spin up time, in theory, it should start shooting as soon as it's spinning. Besides, in theory, the gun could be spinning even without ammo being fed, so you could spin it up 5 minutes before entering combat.

In fact, I'm pretty sure that in real life, you wouldn't have to deal with spinup time on Blackhawk's miniguns either.

I believe Daranz is correct. The guns can rotate without firing and be at the ready to fire. I would imagine that if an A10 pilot is expecting to engage targets there is probably a switch in the cockpit to turn on the motor and have the gun spinning for most of the flight? I can't see any benefit to making them delayed for the A10.

In the BH I just constantly tap the fire button to keep the gun spinning but not firing

I cant find the link anymore, but the A10 gun is spinning as soon as the weapon system is given free iirc.
So as soon as they need the thing they only have to press the trigger..
