Great idea, that would be greta for the militia!

I guess that makes sense since the Devs said they want the Militia to only be effective at close and long ranges. Also, Dcon has an AK74U modeled with iron sights.

That "weird futuristic looking red-dot system" is a COBRA RDS, which is a Russian made RDS designed to fit on the "N" rail of certain AK series rifles.
Anyway, I doubt the Malitia will have many assault rifles. Egg has already stated that they will specialise in long range and close quater combat, but will lose out to conventional armies at mid range. So expect lots of SMGs, Shotguns and long range, high power, low rate of fire rifles.

I suggest that the Militia's primary weapon be the AK-74U
They AK-47U is widley used but it is not necisarily the primary battle rifle of any fighting force I belive. It is much more like a carbine considering the shortened barrel. The AK is vertually the same thing just not compacted and with a larger barrel for longer ranged engagements such as there will be in .6.
I also suggest adding the VSS to the Militia Armoury, as in IRL, Checyan? rebels used these a lot.
Chechnyan rebels used them you say? I don't know where they got their hands on those. But I couldn't see a militia using them because I don't see where a civilian could obtain one with the special ammo it uses.

ther vss in Dcon is so rediculously unbalanced ----> no recoil...absolutely silent, fires like 2000 rpm, 20 round magazine

It fires the 5.45x39 cartridge, which has been in production since 1974. It is a very common round. I've seen it for sale on the shelf at Walmart.
The 5.45 round is, however, less common than the 7.62x39 round. The latter seems to be a favorite with irregular forces worldwide.
In an interview, Dr. Kalashnikov, the designer of the AK rifle, talked down the5.45 round and called it's adoption for soviet rifles "A political decision". He believed in the knockdown power of the .30 caliber round over the faster .22. That happens to be precicely the reason I favor an AK-47 over a '74.
I know a few Russians who own AK-74 rifles (not sure if they are legally possessed, but that aint the point; they "can obtain" them).

He's talking about the VSS, which fires the rare 9x39mm round, not the AK-74 series.

no the VSS uses subsonic spezial ammo - not so common
to the general thread theme: if you want a ak74u, akm, vss there is only one way, we need the russians as a new faction too !!

Lee-Enfield FTW!!!! Militia should have a mix of weapons, but assault rifles would probably be quite rare tbh. Also, SMGs and shotguns suit their style of combat more... close-quarter urban ambushes.

Well, I am too, since the current insurgent sniper rifle is the SVD, which is equivalent to the M14 (and SVD is used as marksman rifle in MEC faction anyways).
So insurgents are getting some real "juba sniper" assets

They're keeping the SVD, the Mosin-Nagant will be complimenting it. And the MEC will be losing it in favor of the G3SG/1 for the marksman class.
I wants an enfield.

i agree with the aks74u infact i'm going to dig up an old thread from the community modding on it to see how his is going.
I thought militia was meant to be better than insurgents getting given a ppsh doesn't really improve things its a ww2 weapon!
