is it possible in the bf2 engine to set it up so you can pick up wounded teammates to bring to a medic or bring them to a safe place to heal?

It's hardcoded.
[Afaik, you can't do it without having full access to the source code, and you wont get that.]

Unpossible. Hardcoded.
If it could be done, it would have been done a long time ago.

Why can't the mod team touch the source code?

Changing the source is against the EULA I believe.

picking up wounded, hm? couldn't one make a pickup kit, that spawns at the location of a wounded soldier, looking like a wounded soldier. when you pick that up you change class and become "med-evac" class (with appropriate graphics). This class has only one weapon slot which works like a landmine, meaning you can drop things, in this case a soldier and a simple rifleman kit. (would be cool if it is possible to get your original kit back, doubt it though)
Problem is, i don't think the dropped "soldier" could be revived, but maybe it could be tweaked that if you dropped a body near a chopper or jeep, your side won't loose a ticket for that kill.
