Reducing/eliminating jump/fall damage

I did a search, found nothing. If there is another thread relating to this, simply give me the link and delete this thread.

Ok, I have found after a long time of playing PR that there is quite a decent amount of fall damage and you get it by "falling" just a few feet. These short distances should be withstandable with your average human, especially a soldier. I am mostly bringing this up because often times you must take a lot of care and precaution when going down steps to keep yourself from "skipping" a few of them and landing to where you get damage.

Also, jumping out of a LB or BH at a heigh of 3-4 feet should not give you any damage either as again, a normal human being can take a fall of that height. Just look at the movie We Were Soldiers where they did not land the Huey's for a large portion of the fight.

Ok, it's almost 3 AM so I am going to sleep. If I think of anything more I will add it.

Edit: Another suggestion I have is that if you are dropping from 4 or so feet, that instead of getting hurt, you have no stamina to simulate recovering from the fall.

Second this. The damage maybe minimal, but I don't like falling down steps.

Also taking damage when being pushed out the way by team mates is annoying.

lol yeah I hope that is a bug, its not like we can bump heads if we have helmets on. I hate falling down the stairs, its embarrasing...everyone looks at you funny and the girls laugh...then to boot, I start caughing and bleeding.

If the dmg taken is not taken away, damn bleeding from small fall should atleast be taken, its damn annoying to take dmg from falling steps and bleed to death.

I've rolled over 300 feet down a mountain headfirst with 45kg of gear on without any armor and I didn't die. After hitting a few trees and sliding down a rock face I can say with absolute certainty that the most painful part was sprinting to catch up :p . I hate camping. Anyways yeah your average infantry man is probably fit enough that by the time he's served a tour he medically won't need to exercise the rest of his life, so forgive me if I have trouble believing that they can't slip 20 feet down a grassy incline without getting internal bleeding.

I hate the teammate push damage...seems, like someone shot me in the arm, just because a guy trips over me...

Sound like you are having a little whine.. and you want the game made a little easier. This is a bad suggestion, as you can presently fall off two story buildings and survive, if you know how.
So you think falling down the stairs would not hurt?
And i'f two troops run into each other it would also hurt.

If anything i'd like to see a 'fall' hurt more to stop gamey play tactics.

Lets make the game harder and more strategic not more gamey and arcadey

It's swings and roundabouts really. You can fall 1000 ft into water and survive in BF2, but yet you can fall down a 6 inch step and break both your legs. Not really sure if anything can be done about it.

We're not talking about dieing, we're talking about sprained ankles.

Have you run down stairs like people do ingame. With a twist and the weapon ready to fire, and then a pike dive?

I was suprised the other day, when I did some "parkour" from the tallest building in facility without dieing. I made it to the bottom.

@Caboose; So you're saying , rolling down a grassy knowl is he same as diving down some stairs?

These may be a little old but as far as i'm aware damage has not changed.

Very little damage is taken from this kind of play... if anything damage should be increased.

would it be possible to lower damage on small falls but drastically augment it on longer falls?

No one here is saying it should be okay to jump out of a tower 30 feet up and take no damage. That is retarded. The issue is when you hop off a 1 to 2 ft. grassy hill and lose half your life. However I think there are other things I'd rather see in game before this. Let's work on some damn buildings or a small village with interior space gentlemen. DCON is making you look bad.

I think the only fair way to balance this would to be involve the composition of what you are falling/jumping onto... which isn't gonna happen for reasons which don't at all involve the BF2 engine. Heli drops are harsh enough at the moment though, bleeding after humping like 4 feet is a little extreme. Is there no way of simulating falling over with any of these situations? Or is that yet again completely out the question?

Hey, how about not being a complete prick and give me some constructive criticism to my suggestion instead of being condescending.

This would not make the game "easier". I believe it would make it more realistic. Even if you were to fall down some stairs, I don't believe anyone would start to bleed out internally. I think we should be able to jump off choppers 4 feet in the air and not get hurt, the military does it.

I agree that falling 20 feet off a building should pretty much kill you and that damage should be increased when falling from those heights, but falling from miniscule heights should not be causing much, if any damage.

I would like you to explain to me, MadTommy, why decreasing fall damage when going down some damn steps or jumping 4 feet from a chopper would make the game more "arcadey and less strategic".

Another suggestion I have is that if you are dropping from 4 or so feet, that instead of getting hurt, you have no stamina to simulate recovering from the fall.
