I have been playing BF since 1942 till now! I was wondering whats your style of playing is! As for me I am a tactical guy, i like to map out my plans of attack, i am also the type to where i'll join a squad as a medic and follow alittle bit behind someone and revive them if the die or do tha same as a support guy( even called a noob since i get shot alot) But i also see alot of just run and shot what moves type! So what works best for playing!

helping other people and stealthy movements, (medic and sniper) and a bit of piloting.

my first priority is to get in a transport or scout chopper, after that i'll go for n APC/Tank and if neither of those are available i'll go as support or light AT.
i'm not into those little guns.

*Faint Cobra noise*...

...*Louder Cobra noise*

Cobra comes over a hill, and a swift 2 rockets later you're dead. ;)

a vehicle guy , tanker , if not tank , APC , if not apc , HMMV suport , if not hummv (like helmand) sniper , buy always cordinating with my squad (if my squad is working together , if not , who cares ?), im finding more usefull a suand of 4 mens and one tank working together than an armor squad alone .

Medic or Squad leader as officer or Medic.

I'm the typical generic soldier ( you know, the one that alway get killed the first ;) ), I get lost if I'm not bossed around by a squad leader....

And if the Teamworks squads are full (and I'm not in them) I get an humvee and taxi the squads around...

And for insurgents I love to C4 a road and wait for hours... or sit on a roof with a shotgun and shoot at planes !

Team work person who leans more toward roleplaying.

For example, when I join a squad, I check in so all know I have a mic (and to check if my mic is working). Secondly, If the SL does not issue me a kit, I ask him/her what kit they need (Yes if there are already two medics in the squad, I'll still go medic, see I told you'all I am a teamplayer)

From there it is more of the same if a SL. I check in with the CO during the pre-game countdown and let him/her now my squads primary function and to asure them I am their go to guy.

I try to go infantry or A.P.C. BTW, I am sorley disapointed in the way players treat APCs on the servers. It is ironic that the "teamwork" squad will be created after an APC during the countdown timer, and they take the bloody thing and then ditch it in a.. well a ditch.

I'll hook up with the pilots and support them. for example, with the jets, I'll join a squad and man the AA equipment. When a friendly is being tailed, they simply fly over the Rear Base and I salute them proudly, that and unload on the enemy behind them.

With choppers I act as the Navigator/engi/door gunner.
I got to say I am impressed in how the server pop have handled the 7th man in the choppers. I have seen a fair amount of coordination.
I am disapointed in the mini-gun as of .5. Garbage IMO.

If I play .6, I'll give the tanks a look see. Currently way too dangerous IMO.

Commanding is either hit or miss. I find it interesting how so many d bag SLs do not even want to attempt to roleplay the game at all, much less contimplate that the CO may know what they are doing.
This just in, IRL, COs know what is going on because of good SLs. Do not even get me started on why SLs do not communicate (proplerly) to the CO important info.

Hopfully my style in .6 will be all CO and XO (the squad that provides logistical support to the CO) every game.
vBF2 gameplay with regards to SM/SL/and CO interaction is garbage IMO.

I look forward to support the .6 set-up where the CO has to have his/her boots on the ground to aid the unit, while at the same time make up the strategy for victory. Reminds me of retired General Moore from "We Were Soilders Once and Young". He was a 0-6 (Col.) at the time I believe.

Great thread.

if i'm commander i like it when the jets form up a squad and the heli form up another squad that way i can call in carpet bombing or use the helis for precision strikes! When i am commander after i call in strikes i will watch the strikes and then tell the aircraft about their passes and kills! BTW last time i commanded the USMC in al bashra we always won with a 200+ score!

Outstanding adive

Sound logic. This will be even more necessary when the magic confirm kill button is gonzo.

Hopfully the devs will deep six the magic halos around vehilces. Pilots should relay on intel (from the CO after a recon SL or other reports this to them) to confirm hostiles or not.
That is what I disliked about vBF2, a pilot could grab a jet and not need any type of support and kill and kill. Yeah, that is how it works in real life

If i'm playing for a quick game i play rifleman or marksman and join a squad.
If i'm gonna play a whole round i usually play as a squad leader of a squad called "Reconarmor" where i make an APC based squad and i play as an APC just spotting enemies and providing support for moving infantry, as well as a mobile spawn for my squad and everyone else.

I always try to go with marksman/sniper and use it to give cover to my squad, when moving over open area's if that impossible I'll go what ever the team wants which usualy turns out to be medic.

I mostly play xtract, but I became pretty good at
setting up ambushes as insurgent to kill the VIP
or if I am on the xtract team I usually protect the VIP / serve as RPG shield on AL basrah xtract
I often end up as the VIP on the other maps where the VIP has to go on foot

I'm a ground pounder all the way. Rifleman, working in a squad. I like Being on Point, I am also very aggressive in CQB firefights. When I end up with a sniper Rifle I will leave no Shadow, I will hunt for SLs, picking out the guy that is getting spawned on. I like setting Ambushes, and using traps. I am a flanking whore. You can ask any Squad I play with. Unless Told otherwise. I am on the side moving behind the enemy. Particularity in this mod I have grown an nasty Habit of using the best cover I can find and letting enemies walk with in 10 feet of me before I light them up. I have a lot of self control. I very rarely engage at first sight. I prefer to sneak up and gain absolute domination.

Useless on ground....except medic.

I like to hide all round in the Village basement and medicate my teammates, that hop in after a Cobra attack. One round I didnt even leave the basement, we were bleeding the USMC so much, that we got bored...and my teammate stashed himself with 50 Lb of ammo bags, lol...

I particulary hate the A10 on Basrah, since the map is so small (hard to fly when you have to turn back every 10 seconds) and no commander to give me targets...

I like to be the Cobra gunner, spot snipers and turning their hole into hell...destroying the spawn cars from above..the usuall ;)

Most of all I like the APCs and BHs, perfect for quick transportation and hit&run tactics..which I do a lot...

I also like to jihad, but dont have the patience to plant roadside bombs and wait...my favourite is the technical, fast and explodes instantly :p

If I dont know, what to do, Ill go help the Blackhawks by manning the minigun...

I'm the typical soldier who thinks i'm bullet proof, and run into the blazing fire without any fear of dying at all.....
If i get tree enemies with me to Valhalla i'm really happy and hail the gods all the way back to the Rally Point...

I'm almost always in the front, and almost always dead when the dust settles...

I'm a reincarnation of Rambo, and trust only my AK-47...

How do I play? Fearfully, I guess.

I'm a typical redshirt; I'll stick to a squad, do what the Squad Leader tells me, mostly. I find that the only two classes I play as really are the Medic and Light AT.

As a Medic, I aim towards healing and reviving the squad. I'm a gung-ho revivalist, so if someone dies into the heat of combat i'll run out and defrib 'em. I don't really care if it's realistic or not, it gets results (DAMNIT). ¬_¬

I play Light AT for larfs, mostly; usually only if I'm playing as MEC or Insurgents, as (if you haven't heard already) I loves the RPG launcher. It's a cool weapon, and I prefer it to more generic H-AT launchers. I like to think that I'm quite good at downing helicopters with the RPG, and Venga Buses stand no chance.
(I also once managed to destroy an APC on my own using the RPG; on an Insurgent map, I stood on a fence and pounded the rear armour on it, and it didn't think to look up on the fence! Heh heh heh)

I don't usually lead a squad, but if I do I follow what the commander tells me. Otherwise, I target the closest point takeable (as I am lazy). I've never played commander, as I don't think I'm skilled enough.

I play on the hoof; I have a headset, so I like chatting to my squadmates, usually just witty comments or jokes, interspersed with high-pitched, girlish screams as I get shot at.
I'm not the type that takes it a bit too seriously; using grid co-ordinates ("It's over by the thingy." "The thingy?" "Yeah, you know! The building." "WHICH ONE?!" etc), or (as I think some people do) making a paper map and using that to get around. I would, but i'm lazy and there's already a map to use ingame.

I play for fun; I don't monitor my points, as I am mostly unimpressive stats-wise. I like to have a good time, so I like to play with one of the social clubs that I frequent (to call us a proper clan would be a bit far). Otherwise, I play on low-ping public servers, and try to have fun! (Although; I tend to lean towards playing MEC/Insurgent maps, as the PLA maps aren't that fun in my opinion)

Hope that helps.

EDIT: Oh yeah, I do have one interesting tic; if I get injured to the point where I know that I won't survive, I act like a nutter. I stand up, point vaguely in the direction of the enemy, and fire off my current weapon, on automatic if I can. If I have an RPG, I'll fire that; it misses most of the time, but gives them a jolt!)

Most of the time I play as a medic, because 90% of PR is infantry combat. I'm the crazy kind of medic rushing out to save teammates, and by save I mean actually make it possible for them to survive, instead of reviving them and leaving them out in the street. I like taking point, or flanking while the rest of the squad provides suppressive fire or assaults.

I also tend to play as SL a lot, although I'm not too good at it. I'm too afraid of not having enough people to set a rally point, so I rarely kick anyone. I try to get people together and I talk to them, although most of the time I'm the only one talking. Still, I try to get the most, even out of the most ADDish squads.

Recently, I've been playing a lot of commander, too. Mostly because nobody else will do it. I do a lot of different things as the commander. Beyond accepting artillery strikes, I try to get people to request supplies (nobody ever does that, and the crates are free, so I like to have people request them over captured points, so that friendlies can use them), I look for rally points and advise the team about enemy movements. I don't like ordering people around all the time - I prefer to tell them what I need done, and let them do the job if they can. There is some stuff where closer cooperation with the team is required, such as when dealing with tanks and snipers - unfortunately, a lot of the time when I talk to SLs of squads with tanks, I get a feeling that they don't pass on the information to the tanks in their squads. Here, again, I find most SLs don't have mics, but most of them are at least marginally competent.

Is this some sort of subversive comment on my style? ¬_¬
