Spawn Zones

Just a random suggestion, probably not possible.
How about each flag controlled an area of the map and you could only put rally points in areas controlled by your team (but still not too close to the flag)?
It would mean you still had a frontline, but attacking teams could push it back by destroying your spawn points.It would also mean that when you went into enemy territory you'd have to work as a squad and keep your SL alive. No more putting an RP behind the enemy and relentlessly attacking. Plus flags would have some value other than ticket bleed.
I think it's realistic cos it represents reinforcements being brought into controlled areas, but gets rid of soldiers "teleporting" in behind front lines. You could still spawn on your SL but this requires a bit more teamwork.
Just an idea, would be interested to know what anyone else thought.

I like this suggestion. I don't know if it is possible or not to code this. One map that this may be a problem would be Qwai (sp?) River. If one team has government office and the other fishing village, I would assum you would have to split where the zones ended down the river? If so then you couldn't set a rally on the enemy's side of the river? Correct? That may make it a big swim meet
What about when a flag is grey? Can either team have a rally then or neither? What if a zone changes hands and there are conflicting rallies then, would they be automatically destroyed?
Just some questions not criticisim

I really like this idea! The game definitely shines when those battle lines are present. I wish the map cp's were designed to be less of a ping-pong effect and more like EJOD. I mean we only have 32 guys attacking for one team, there's not use in spreading everyone out.

Yeah definatly some issues there, it was more of a vague idea than anything.
On maps like Quai, that's sort of half the idea. When attacking you couldn't just stick a rally point on there side of the river and keep attacking. You'd still have APC's and SL's to spawn but you'd have to be co-ordinated and use teamwork, then fall back to RP's if you fail.
As for flags changing hands I think RP's should stay untill destroyed or replaced. If you capture a flag it might be a good idea to do a sweep for enemy RP's!

I see no reason why there couldn't be an overlap of the zones within which rally points can be placed so that, sticking with the Quai River example, both teams can place RPs along the river banks but only the teams holding the respective flags can locate spawn points furthur 'inland'.
I expect that this is possible, since we already have an exclusion zone around flags which prevents the placement of RPs too near to them. This would just be an inversion of that kind of relationship.

I too like this idea. It's sort of annoying to spawn at your flag and whole squads are spawning directly behind you. I think it would also help emphasize the importance of staying alive, and making smart, tactical decisions when assaulting an enemy flag.

Yeah I like it too. Would be great for gameplay, and it would bring a new meaning to controlling flags.
And I also agree with the rallypoints staying untill destroyed if the flag is lost, gives a better chance to retake the flag quickly.

Yes, a pretty cool idea.... The mobile spawnpoints destroy the development of a clear frontline; there has to be set an addition to it.

I like this idea, its would make flags much more important than they are now and would give you a reason to defend your flags. Also as already said, it would bring a real front line of attack and only people spawning on their SL could spawn behind enemy lines making for some interesting squad work. Sometimes it seems a little bit too easy just to go around the enemy and stick your rally point nicely hidden 75 metres from they're flag and just spawn repeatedly. In theory it sounds like it might be possible too!

gald people like the idea, would be interested to hear what the devs think. Is this something you've considered? Is it something you would consider? Is there some glaring reason why this is a bad idea that I've missed?

we have a similar idea... not sure if it will be implemented yet but we did come up with basically the same solution to the beindlines rallypoint issue...
always remember the devs are bigger game geeks than most of you guys...hehe
