Vehicle Hitboxes

I've searched for it and looked in the already suggested suggestions sticky but in case I missed it then I apologize for wasting the readers time.
The problem: has anyone ever noticed that the small transport wheeled vehicles like the HMMWV take damage if they are shot in places like the windshield or side door? I think it's highly unlikely that a vehicle such as the HMMWV will suffer mechanical failures if it is shot in the windshield for example.
The idea: wrap the more vulnerable (that cause damage from light arms like assault rifles) hitboxes around vehicles critical spots (for example, HMMVW engine area and underside), areas that in reality would decrease vehicle performance if shot at by the appropriate caliber while keeping the hit boxes that can only take damage from large calibers like tank HEAT rounds, light ATs and heavy ATs on the rest of the vehicle.
