i don't know if it is possible to add a different moddel for different loading-stats (other than empty and not empty) - and i do not think it is worth the effort

The reload animations are mostly wrong in most cases. AFAIK, you don't need to pull the charging handle on the M16 if a round is already chambered, but in the animation you always do that. Additionally, the M9 slide should lock back if you run out of rounds, and it doesn't. The game was obviously made for auto-reload, and this is the main reason to keep auto-reload on.

Unfortunately, I think this is an engine limitation. This IS BF2 after all. Personally, I'd like the reload anims of GRAW (PC). There, you could actually fire the one round that gets left in the chamber if you reload without expending the entire magazine, and there were appropriate animations for everything.

Can't be done as it will require new model and no time to do that because devs got other surpriss planed.

For this to happen, it would require the game to recognize new animations and know when to use them. As far as I know, you can't tell the game to think "Oh, yeah, when the magazine is at 10 rounds, start shorting the clip."
The only think I could think of would be to alter the reload animation so the bullets that are left hanging stay there and just hang while you reload, despite the fact your gun is empty yet still has a few rounds hanging off of it.

Or. could just go with linkless feed :D

The on screen bullet counts should be there to simulate the soldier knowing how many rounds have been expended. They are not, so it forces you to count and remember. With the SAW and other LMGs it is a lot more difficult to remember how many rounds you have fired, and the lack of proper animation gives you no hint either.

Reload after every firefight and have a rifleman with your for ammo

Well, would be nice to have the H-AT animations different...

I think soldiers don't simply throw away a weapon worth $30 000 after they run out of ONE rocket...

The SRAW is a one shot weapon, with the missile and launch tube already together. The Eryx missiles come with a launch tube, that's attached to the aiming module, similar to how the Javelin works. AT-4 is the same - you fire it, and dispose of it (unless you want to destroy the tube first).

Also, reload the SAW after every firefight? Even with a rifleman (and having a rifleman with you isn't as easy as it sounds in pub servers), you still have to slow down, get the ammo packs out, reload, wait for a new ammo box to be grabbed, and only then move on. That's not exactly something you wanna be doing every 30 seconds.

Then what do you expect? Either that or you'll be screwed reloading your M249 during a firefight because you didn't reload and get more ammo. Better to be safe than sorry.

Yeah the only issue I have with the SRAW animation is it's SLOWNESS...if only it where faster.

well how about forget about the animations and have the last 10-20 rounds on the LMG's be all tracers to give you a visual warning

may be hardcoded but would save work on an animation.

I haven't really noticed it.
Thanks for letting me know...*sigh*

Can't we let the DEVs work on worthwhile things...?

Fearosius wrote:To make reloading more easier on the M249 SAW, could you make the last 5-8 rounds come out of the gun, so we could know when to reload it. ATM, it shows about 10 bullets coming from the box to gun when you have no rounds left, and when you reload, the bullets hanging out of the gun magically disappear. So yeh, thats real messed up. :p

Ya, I've always hated that, same thing with the AK-101 reload animation, the guy just flips the two magazines that are taped together over, and over, and over....

Stupid DICE its those small details that makes me laugh at how unobservant they were.

And the ROF (rate of fire) is way too fast.

You wouldnt notice it on a SAW because of its RoF, maybe worth on a 50cal or summin. Not high priority and there is a shortage of animators on the PR DEV team.

The problem is the sound shoots faster than the weapon actually does. I'm fixing the ROF on the sound now, should make it into 0.6......your welcome in advance ;-)

I'm almost always the heavy machine gunner in my squad when playing PR, and I've never been in a situation when i needed to reload my SAW when confronted with an enemy. You don't have to count every round, but you can make an educated guess, it's not that hard.

For instance, why would you reload when you've only just shot ten rounds? To be on the safe side? No, you would keep the other 90 rounds you have left and move along. Common sense overrules the "better safe than sorry" in this situation.

@JAYMZ, so glad that the sound of the ROF will be fixed next release, good job man!

I always reload it if I pick one up.
