A Storyline?

This mod CANNOT be a reality mod without a storyline.

Who ARE the MEC in the first place? How did they form? Why are the Chinese at war with the coalition? What is with all the insurgents? Any ideas? I'll think of one, maby something with oil

Ya know how in BF2142 each map has a real storyline-y map description?

This has been discussed so many times it's not even funny. I suggest you use search next time. Also, it is being worked on.

No...

In February 2140, the PACs X and II Command Divisions swept through Serbia and trapped the EU 9th Armored Corps in the heart of Belgrade. A massive ice wall blocking its retreat, the EU force, inspired by General Emil Nikoli?, staged a tenacious resistance. In March, the PACs Northern Command Group arrived through recently annexed Bulgaria. Led by a swift, V-shaped formation of T-39 Bogatyr battle walkers, the bolstered PAC forces burst through the EUs eastern flank and forced their surrender. With control of Eastern Europe, the PAC turned its sights to the EUs central command in Berlin.

Thats Belgrade in 2142, BF2 isn't that descriptive

for my map, Operation Ghost train:
As British forces push deeper into Chinese held territory, they run into stiff resistance in this dense region of jungle. Intelligence reports suggest the train line, which snakes through the area, is being used to ferry supplies and reinforcements to the front lines, thus making it an important strategic target.

PLA troops are deployed to defend the region at all costs, using a series of pill boxes and bunkers, as well as the natural terrain, as their defensive positions, in what will prove to be a tough fight for both sides.
Your point?

Just take whatever Tom Clancy book has the appropriate story, and use that. There was one involving China attacking Russia, and one where Iran invaded Iraq and started a new country, and proceeded go around attacking people. I suppose that'd be enough.

That would be "The Bear and The Dragon" and "Executive Orders", I think. And I have to admit that I thought of PR when I read them...

Yeah BF2 didn't really have a story line...BF1942 and BF:V didn't need one, as they where based on something historical and we already had a general idea of what was going on, but BF2 didn't even try.

"Just take whatever Tom Clancy book has the appropriate story, and use that"

I thought this was the reality mod?, not the "america prevails with superior automatic weapons" mod.

The OP already lost all credibility by mentioning BF2142 as example.

We already have a small team working on the Storyline

My favorite part of the load screen is the gameplay type.

Cause you know, there's so many types in vBF2! My lame self can't distinguish between assault and double assault types by looking at the map, so I ahve to read it!

Yay DICE!

You'd think they would make BF2142 better with some newer stuff, like adding some innovative features rather than just modding their own game.

One thing that would be good is trying to link the map descirptions with each other.

what about muttrah linking with oman?
After the Marine landings at the Gulf of Oman, a large number of MEC retreated along the coast to Muttrah City. It is believed the MEC forces will use this quiet port, so far relatively untouched by the fighting, as a last ditch attempt to keep a hold on the area.

As the MEC dig in, elements of the Marine Reaction Force ready themselves aboard a carrier, positioned a few miles out in the bay. With no armour support, the Marines will be relying on infantry tactics and the skill of the marine pilots, to retake this port in a daring amphibious landing, which could deliver a knock out blow to the Middle Eastern Coalition in Oman, once and for all.

Shame with the story in 2142, with the EU on the run all the time.
