The river also isn't there in real life.
I would like to see some more shrubs and less monotonous textures on the ground.

There are many Battlefield maps that use real world locations, the Project reality ones use the general layout of the real place quite while, while some other maps, like Camp Gibraltar in BF2142 doesn't seem to exist... No where was there a Orbital Artillery relay ANYWHERE!

Attention to detail and striving for that extra bit of realism is something they seem to do quite well.

The West beach area looks like Muutrah to me as well.
Nice find.

PR's Jabal sucks and usually becomes a campfest to the behest of the USMC. Jabal suffers from the same problem as Muttrah. As we all have seen .5 killed Muttrah to the point where it won't even be in .6 or until it can be redone. The real Jabal looks a lot more interesting. Hopefully in .6 we will see the maps better polished. Like Albasrah has two pointless flags, one of which nothing spawns at. PR has some decent maps, they just don't feel polished or complete.

I disagree.
While .5 and RP have changed the dynamics a lot I still like this map.
It lost it's favorite slot to the genius of Al Basrah but it is still a very interesting map that requires teamwork and coordination to be successful.

I heard the same comments about Muttrah. Which it seems ironic to me that it won't be in .6 despite how many people swore it was still okay and balanced. On Muttrah MEC would win 99% of the time. Jabal and Oman become campfests in favor of the MEC 85% of the time. You can't say, "oh, the US can win if they play as a team." If you have not noticed, there is another side that is trying to play as a team as well. Now, not all maps should be completely balanced, that would be boring. However sitting at East or West beach 85% of the time waiting for the US sux. Once MEC takes those two flags and sits on them, the game is over. If there was some way to fix maps like that by giving the US some sort of plan B, or by giving them more vehicle options.

I say put several AA at the flags deeper into Jabal but none on the beaches. Give the US a Cobra. 1 should be sufficient. The defenseless beaches gives the US a better chance of retaking those flags, but the numerous AA batteries inland halts the US from using the gunships further in. Still keeping the balance of infantry and vehicle combat Dam areas.

When we played Jabal in the tournament it was actually a very competitive match until the very end. The U.S. successfully assaulted and took the bridge and dam and held them for quite a while.

I just finished a match of Jabal, and I have to say that it was probably the best round of PR I've ever played...I don't see how one can say Jabal sucks.

This is the single worst map in the game without competition, I love teamwork and I like a challenge but this map requires clan level teamwork with careful coordination and structure. I like maps that make teamwork happen at the pub level, part of the fun is getting with people you've never played with before and turning into a cohesive unit but this fucking map is hard and boring.

the only thing I wish is that there were more roads for vehciles through the mountainous areas. Maybe even more infantry foot paths too.

This map is fun, but mobility is somewhat limited.

You need to play on different servers then. I've never had that problem...

If anything Jabal is one of the best maps PR has to offer at the moment in terms of WAC.

What are you looking for, more spam fests? More cities like Karkand? If anything larger maps make it much easier to turn random people into a cohesive unit. I love Jabal, not that it doesn't have its problems, but I find that as long as the USMC is at least somewhat competent, then it will always be a competitive and fun map. If USMC is really bad, it can turn into one of the worst, as you have trouble gaining the beaches. They have to be pretty bad for that to happen, though...

It doesn't. It only sucks when there are 20 or less people on it and when vanilla noobs play it who want nothing but a vanilla fragfest and quick kills.
