While it would make playing organized and "clean" looking, everyone shouldn't be forced to put the PR| before their name... What happens when you're in a clan? PR|[Clan Name]PlayerName? With that in, I doubt you can see the actual player name, haha.

I think I can agree with this. Hate being on VOIP and trying to pronounce some names (and others have difficulties with mine until I say, "Call me Neph"). Real surnames (Though no reason at all it should be your real name) or sensible "callsigns" that are memorable and easy to say would make communications and recognition a lot easier and, dare I say it, the teamplay a little more immersive.

Having a PR_ (Or something like it) prefix would be preferable in my eyes to a PR|, since people sometimes use | as an I and _ seperates the name from the prefix a little more so I think it is a little easier to read. I think I might even prefer a space, in order to further keep tag away from name, so my name might be "~{TPP}~PR_Williams" or "PR~{TPP}~ Williams"?.

The problem with just surnames is that lots of people will want to be Smith...and then we get back into the territory of Smith1 and Smith88 ;P But then, you can always take a callsign. And...with callsigns, use "Mad Dog" not "Maddog"...since we can use spaces ;P

The problem with the tag PR, though, is that we are playing PR! We want something that says we are teamwork players, not that we are PR players, since everyone who plays PR should, logically, be able to put PR in front of their names!

I wouldn't mind but i lost my original bf2 key long ago thus leaving me with only my lame old clan tag and no way to make a new name.

This is why I am suggesting a PR name system for all the 'serious' players.

Register a new account in Battlefield 2 menu with PR|Lastname or PR|Realworldnickname

It doesnt really work if your name is PR|Turbohamster2233 (unless that really is your irl nickname), because the 'realism' aspect is thrown away. Be serious.

Why?
The PR| would mean you are ready to carry the responsibility, and not a complete noob.
And your name would -probably- be easier to pronounce in VOIP...Unless if your last name is Gwherzaignerbobzer, please use nickname :P

Worth it?
If it works, yes...

Just a idea, please discuss...

PS. I posted this in General discussion on purpose, since this isnt really something Devs can do, its about the players.
Pardon me but, aren't you prejudging people here?

In my opinion, and I'm not being mean spirited about saying it; your criteria (a nickname) for someone being "serious" is at best, somewhat compulsive. As in your remark about "the realism standard being thrown out" by a mere nickname. Some of the best squad-mates I've played with have obscure and even silly nicknames, although they play the game with a high degree of teamwork and have sportsman like standards.

For some of us it's about having fun playing a realism mod with a tight team not immersing ourselves in a military fantasy. If your looking to meet up with some dedicated team players join "Project Reality Teamwork Clan" on x-fire. It's not an actual clan its a "buddy" list for team-work oriented players.

Hell man if it seriously disturbs you, look at it this way; even in the actual military soldiers have funky nicknames.

If I can't pronounce a name I call them by the first few letters. I wouldn't want to start a new name over again, sorry.

It's a good idea, but should fits better for a tournament that on an online battle by night.
Usually I use to call people in my squad for their role, it' easier and faster to call "medic!" or "rifleman" than "PR| [clan-tag] nickname".
And usually skilled people understand where to go and what to do without talking a lot.

My problem is that some people (mainly Americans) associate my name with Toffee. Therefore they start calling me 'sweet cheeks' and stuff like that. ¬_¬

I don't lke this idea. Why does it matter? If you can't pronounce it, just say 'yo wackyname, how d'ya say it?' Easy as.

You can only go so far branding or herding a FPS gamer. We are by nature independent individuals and some aren't into clans or affiliations. I've found there are only 3 good ways in a public game to get in with a good working squad :

- Get to know the players and jump in squad with the ones you feel most comfortable with.
- leave any squad or server that displeases you until you find a comfortable fit.
- If you are Squad Leader, don't hesitate to kick those players that refuse to respond to your orders or are disruptive. Your solid Squad mates will respect you for it.

I've seen people with ridiculous names who are awesome team players and kick *** at the game. I honestly don't think this would work as not every team player visits the forums all the time or at all.

Judging someone based on their name is a bit foolish. I could go through the motions, call myself "PR|Jenkins|Foxtrot" (Not my real name, by the way).
You would see my name, proceed to let me into your highly selective group, and I would then proceed to chuck SLAMs at the rally point and fly helicopters into buildings whilst shouting "W8! HOW I TO FOR FLY R0FLC0PT0RZ?!1 KEKEKEKE".

I understand that it's only an idea, and it may be interesting for those people who wish to extend their Project Reality experience to the height of... experienceness. But thinking that because someone has a casual, slightly wacky (possibly zany) name means that they are "a complete noob" is a bit silly.

Still, don't mind me. I'm called Wunderbear ingame, and am therefore a fool. LOLZ, etc. Please, continue your discussion.

Good idea but im not sure many people would start a new profile just to have PR| in front of their names. Yeah it can be annoying but if this idea did tak eplace, the ones with PR| at the front would be given priority in squads. am i correct?
