Get rid of losing vehicle for tk's

I never thought I'd see the day I thought you guys came up with an outright bad idea but this is it. Please guys get rid of losing the ability to drive your vehicle when you TK, it's just not realistic and frankly it severely detracts from gameplay.
I never saw the problem until today but honestly I don't even see the logic behind it? Do tank drivers/gunners lose all their training when they accidentally shoot a friendly or something in real life? If it's to keep people playing responsibly than that isn't good either since I only tk'd one person the entire round but killed something like 10 tanks, 5 apcs, and 2 cobra's, and tons of infantry(yes it was on steel thunder) yet apparently I'm still not responsible enough to keep driving my precious armor.
Sorry if this rant is a bit incoherent, it's unbearably hot and humid in my computer room and I can't keep focus. I still think I got the point across though.

You lose driving privileges when you TK in PR? I never knew that so I guess I agree with you because that sounds silly...

When something could cause problems because of accidental tks (A10s on Al Basra are a nightmare), it is better left up to admins to deal with the smacktards than to have a built in punishing system with the potential for abuse.
Just my view.

I never noticed the TK / not being able to drive, I guess im not an idiot who TKs people in main bases XD

Ooohhh..that's the reason. My squad was wondeirng why our crewmen couldn't get the APC going.
In a perfect world, I'd support getting rid of it, but yeah...we live in a world of smacktards so it's here to stay.

Is it realistic to have some random 13 year old hop in a cobra and teamkill 100 friends and continue doing so? Its MP man

Exactly. Smacktards happen.

well now your just being ridiculous.
there is 98 numbers between 1 and 100(not counting 1 or 100), so maybe you should be denied vehicle privileges after you TK 5 or 10 guys. it doesnt have to be 1 tk or 100 tk's, you can use those other 98 numbers between.

Fishw0rk wrote:You *temporarily* lose the vehicle privileges if you TK someone who had the vehicle's kit (i.e. you're a chopper pilot in a cobra and you TK another pilot). The reason it's there is to prevent smacktards from TKing you for stealing "their" chopper and then flying off in it while you're staring at the spawn screen.
Personally I'm glad we have it in place. And if people are just now noticing it then I don't think its that big of an issue. The only people who may have noticed it earlier are smacktards who TK for vehicles.
Hmmm... I had no idea this was the case. I was south of the damn outpost in Steel Thunder so it's pretty weird that there was another crewman running around in the woods. Perhaps the system should be changed so that it only makes you lose your privileges if you are where the vehicles spawn. Still though, it's pretty peculiar that I got the message that I should learn to use my equipment before I use it.
Can a dev post and enlighten us on what happened exactly?

You had to have killed a crewman, unless it was some weird bug.
Personally I like it, especially when it comes to the LBs. Particularly love when I'm waiting to pick someone up and a guy who wanted to fly comes over and shoots me, only to realize he now can't fly for a few minutes. I'd love to see it be upped to like 20 minutes, although since accidents DO happen, that's obviously not a feasible solution. No excuse for intentionally TKing for vehicles, should be a kickable/bannable offense.

Perhaps the waiting time could be triggered off of the punishing system. If you punish, they have to wait. If not, they dont. Although this would probably be a bad idea for servers with punishing disabled.

HELLO!! HELLO!! ANY ONE HOME - LISTEN TO Fishw0rk and Doom721
This little tweak is essential to keep you smacktards from doing what you love to do, being smacktards and TKing for assets.
You do not, as far as i'm aware have to shoot a crewman as it were. Shortly after 0.5 came out, I was commanding a tank squad..3 man squad.. 2 crew one engy. A bluey jumps in the .50cal when we are repairing and refused to get out.. asked him loads of times.. explained it's needed for my engineer. This idiot just tell me to F off. So in my frustration i shot him dead. Then we load up.. and i cant drive my tank because i TKed this idiot out of the .50 cal. He was not a crewman and it was out in the field, far from the base.
This feature is essential.
Sneak Attack how many people do you want to TK before you are not allowed to use what you TKed for??
Anyone who supported this thread... why???? so you can TK for assets again??

I thought it was a negative score which prevented you from requesting kits.
Maybe that would be better?
Eg. Within 15 seconds of the game, some tw@t Tk's and can't get in chopper/plane, until he gets a positive score.

i never even noticed this until a month or so ago when a few clanmates and i were practicing flying littlebirds and we did a bit of TKing (edit: on our server, of course)
this was also the time that i found out you would get insta-killed for trying to steal someone's kit.
these anti-smacktard measures are in place for a reason. i have NEVER encountered them outside of our own locked server where me and a few friends were just messing around.
in other words...99% of the time, it only affects smacktards. lonelyjew...if you just learned that this could happen, it's apparantly working very well. there's still going to be the occassional time where it punishes a good player, but these occassions are few and far between.

If you havnt had a problem up until now it must not be that big of a problem

I think its fine the way it is.
