Firefights Inf vs INf What Happened?

Thank God v.6 is coming with the Limiting Grenadier/L AT Kit and at least optics and view distance.

This will make the engagements longer and further away. However with this coming, in v.5 I have never had a really good firefight like I used to have in CP Abadan or Muttrah. People Used to actually use their guns to suppress and move in. Right now, everytime we see another squad or person, they either shoot an rpg at you, throw a nade, or noobtube you. I personally tell my squad to use M16 only, and only throw nades over a wall or around a corner.

So the question is what happened to firefights? Why has the PR population resorted to using everything except their gun to kill the enemy. Cause I never get killed by a gun hardly. I have gone through rounds of basrah where ive never been killed by an AK, but killed by RPGS only What?

Also When we have 6v6 battles, I always find that one guy on the other team grabs marksman and basically wipes out the whole squad. I believe that marksman should be like the sniper kit. Only available once reinforcements come like 12v12 or 14 players.

All These factors make firefights disappear. However v.6 is changing that. But still the community has to start making a change in their gaming technique, and actually use their guns.

Prone Diving
I know prone diving can't be fixed as the moment. However htis is the main thing that makes my alt f4 out of PR. If you see a squad mate prone dive. Warn him and flame him Teach him this is reality where 50 lbs of gear hurts like hell if you do that. If he does it again Kick him from the squad. If we all do this we can make an impact.

*PS* IF you read all this, I give you a cookie.

This poll is stupid.
I use all of these tactics when appropiet. If theres more than one person or they ducked around the corner I'll open up with a rocket or grenade (If I have one). 1 v 1 I'll always try to use my rifle.

I first engage with my rifle's noobtube, prone diving and instakilling them.

I read it all and voted for engaging with my trusty M16. However, I often use the M16/M203, and have the 203 bombs as a backup for when the going gets tough and you need to get your toughness going. It can be really useful sometimes, when you have to take out targets behind cover, or when there's several Hajis standing or moving close together. Or even when you have to stop fast moving bikes or cars, where the splash damage of the 40mm grenade makes it more effective than the M16.

Now where is my cookie, *****?

Nothing that can be done about prone diving sadly :(

Hopefully the devs can code a more effective suppressive effect as well as a bullet damage effect - that would help too

I only engage with noobtube when the target is at a decent range or when theres more than 1. Tell you the truth most of the time i insta-prone if not crouch for better accurazy.

I usually dive to the ground and fire my RPG at 'em... if that doesn't kill him, I'll get up and start bunnyhopping toward him with my pistol.

I'll take Oreos.

Personally, I'd like to see a server that bans for prone diving. People could complain using some sort of command, and a python script could record the player name and game time. Then admins could review BRs to find the culprits and ban them. It would probably only take a few days and there would be no more prone divers left.

WEll actualy, in the last 3 days, using 2 fireteams and most importantyl 1 SUPPORT GUNNER, my squad suppressed then flanked the enemy and TOOK THE FLAG with no more than 1 loss on both occations. But this was effectively a first for me in PR, never really done it so properly before. Therefore i agree with you because what happened was still a massive rarity.

2 Occations where:

1) Mao Jungle attacking village (north east flag), Suppressing group on hill top south (medium high, not really top) fired on flag and building below - 1 support gunner , assult came in from far east through dense jungle.

2) Kangon Ni (sp) attacking hill top flag (on far north east side of map), SUppressing group fired on the white wall that ran around it - 1 support gunner, atacking group flanked east through woods and across high ground.

Every one was extremely chuffed and thrilled to bits when we took the flags with such ease, it worked, i could barely believe it.

However as i said before, i am looking extremely forwed to 0.6 due to the changes that should increase the importance and therefore the number of decent firefights.
But i must stress suppressing fire with out flanking is often not much better 1 or 2 carefully aimed shots at 1 single person.

You are right that there used to be some massive firefights on Muttraha and ACAbaden but there was little or no flanking becuase you quite simply could not due to level design (river, small street, no easy rout round side).

And remember prone diving and bunny hoping will not save you or enable you to kill the enemy IF they are 150 metres or more away, and there is 1 support gunner, 1 or more scoped assult rifle firing at you.

Big open maps, and long draw distances, combined with tweaked kit load outs will mean combat happens alot more and often mainly at medium to long range, where only realistic, co-ordinated squads and player have a chance of surviving and SUCEEDING!

You can't ban people for prone diving. Some people don't even know they are doing it.

I aswell, used to crouch when taking a shot, but it always resulted in getting killed. Therefore, I adapted to prone diving too.

I disagree with the OP on everything except maybe the too much rockets thing. You are complaining about how this game is. If you don't like this game, the answer isn't to try to get other people to play it in the way you think it should be played. People are just playing it the best way they know how, to win. They didn't design the game...

EVERY ONE prone dives full stop. but some just dont know it . ask ur self , when moving and u see an enermy do u lay down to take the shot ? thats prone diving , dosnt seem like it to u , but to others when moving then pressing prone u dive down.

I actually crouch and shoot. The only time I go prone is when im hiding behind a ledge or im crawling to a corner with my saw.

Just try to change your techniques and the game will change.

I don't see what the problem is with hitting the deck. That's standard engagement procedure when you're caught in the open.

This poll is useless, because different situations require different tactics. Clearly, if there are 4 or 5 hostiles in a group, nade them. If there's one, shoot him. If there are a few more spread out, hit the deck.

I usually stop, drop to crouch, bring sights up and fire. The enemy usually pulls off a Neo, and shoots me in the face while diving.

Alternatively, at longer ranges I dive behind the nearest cover and yell at my teammates to kill the enemy.

Hell, I instaproned a lot all the way back in DC. In fact, that's when I got into a habit of using Mouse#5 to go prone - as odd as it might seem, it makes instaproning that much easier. However, I don't do it in PR, because it annoys me.
