Cobra and Apache Q

I read up on the Cobra just now in Wikipedia and it said the Army replaced them with the Apache. Did the USMC just not replace them at all, or is that a "future change" in the game?

The cobra is the USMC's main attack helicopter, it can be used from carriers. the Apache is the Army's main attack helicopter.

Was Rhino just referring to that IF the Apaches had any major bugs?

The Army replaced them with the Apaches but the Marines kept em as they can be launched from ship if neccesary. They did update them to Super Cobras tho (AH-1W/AH-1Z)

What prevents an Apache from being launched from ship?

It's not so much the ship-borne capabilities, (i believe the rotor blades can be folded to save room), but more of the part interchangeability between almost the entirety of the Corps' helos. They use the AH-1Z (Super Cobra), the UH-1Y, and another, I think it's the Kiowa(maybe). All of these helos have interchangeable parts should one break down.

Also, the AH-1Z is much more suited (historically, IIRC) to close-air-support roles. The AH-64D is a long-range tank killer. Comparing the head-on profile of each, you can for the most part see that the Cobra's profile would be harder to hit with small arms and ADA.

Just my 2c

Just an image to help you see the similarities between the UH1 and AH1

What's that coming up off the nose of the Cobra?

Foward Looking Infrared, and other "eyes"

Nothing, see all the reasons outlined above and also they take up alot less space than an apache.

As for that thing on the cobra's nose, its probubly something similar to the "wart" on the apache, which houses an array of scanners, sights and such.

Rhino, you have been in a chopper! In the Kashan testing a while ago. I was the pilot and you were the gunner, and you complimented me on how rock steady it hovered! :P

(yes, I am showing off)
