Vehicle Requests

Searched, came up with nothing. Apologies if I'm wrong.

Is there any chance in the future of having vehicle's as a requested asset? ie, not having tanks spawn by themselves but having to request them like kits.

The question comes up as a result of some difficulties the servers I play on have been having recently. Some maps are just too small to have a vehicle yard spawning tanks without enemy players getting the urge to mine every empty vehicle they come across (Qwai springs to mind).

It's created some major tension in the gaming community I belong to. Most of us can agree that Commander assets are prime targets. However, we're split over whether mining or C4ing empty vehicular assets is playing fairly or not.

To take out some of the frustration how about making armour requestable only at certain points on the edge of maps or at vehicle depots (I don't mean having them float from the sky like vehicle drops)?

I can see the argument of how mining an empty vehicle translates in sabotaging assets in the real world, after all, you do get a warning when mines are about. But in the gaming sense isn't this really just another form of griefing? You simply can't blow a mined tank up without the expense of an enemy player and with spawn times being what they are this can get frustrating.

And reality wise, on a smaller map wouldn't an off map request be more feasible than having the army construct an unguarded vehicle yard so close to an enemy base and leaving hundreds of thousands of dollars of machinery lying around 'just in case' it's needed?

I don't imagine every vehicle having to be requested - choppers on carriers are far enough out of harms way and jeeps are a dime a dozen anyway - or even implemented on all maps. On the bigger maps (and looking at 0.6 there might be a lot more in the future) getting to an enemy base is a mission and a half anyways. Most sabotuers would be put of on distance alone.

Also, normal vehicle spawns don't have to be removed completely. Vehicle outposts in Greasy Mullet and the like would obviously still be fair game for sabotuers. I can appreciate that it does take some skill to actually sneak into an enemy base and for players it can be a thrill. However, I also don't think that any saboteur has finished a round on the losing side and got as frustrated that his team didn't mine the enemys vehicles as someone whose fallen prey to these tactics when they thought they were in a safe zone.

Just some food for thought.

Yeah, it is a good idea. It has previously been proposed to make them requestable assets from the Commander, whether it is possible, I do not know.

I agree with this. However I think something like tanks should only spawn in like a factory.. And if the enemies destroy it, they cant request tanks anymore. Same thing for aircraft, except hangar instead. Or if they want to stop request kits they take out munitions. These are repairable but take a long time to repair. This would add more strategy to the game and would make it alot more interesting.

Also, this could definently be modified, theres tons of ways you devs can do something like this.
