SKS idea

AFAIK you can reload the SKS via stripper clip and individually, so would it be possable to have the SKS (when fully fixed) reload similarly to the shotgun, where if you fire one round and hit reload, it only loads in one round? I might be wrong in the weapon being able to do this, however. If you take this rout, instead of a stripper clip count it keeps total ammo, a la the shotgun.

Maybe only put this in for the scout class? Simulates the scout always wanting to keep the weapon topped off.

At a random guess:

The BF2 engine cant handle magazine and individual cartrage reloading on a single weapon.

You're probably right Marley. To make the gun load one at a time it would probably require the gun to be started from scratch and since it's already done why put forth the effort for so little reward?

BF2 engine can hold one by one reloads on the shotgun, so I guess you could make all reloads of SKS involve single rounds. I doubt the rifle would have to be remade from scratch for that (animation, maybe, but if I recall correctly, it reuses BF2 anims right now).

Perhaps this would be more appropriate on the Mosin. How does it reload right now, anyway?

Shotguns anybody? they can reload just one round (as he pointed out) wouldn't it be easy to just fool the engine that the SKS a shotgun?

I think the problem would be to do a whole new animation.....

Yes, you could. But then you would (probubly) loose reloading from stripper clips. And to be honest, I'd rather be able to rapidly refill my mag with a single 10 round stripper and loose a few rounds when I'm in trouble than have to load each cartrage on its own each time.

I have an SKS and even tho you can load them one round at a time as soon as you chamber a round, every time you fire another gets loaded obviously. So you cannot "keep it topped off", say if you load ten and fire two and you try to top it off, as soon as you pull back the bolt carrier you will eject an unspent round and then you have to hold the bolt back with one hand while you proceed to load another 3. In other words you wouldn't do this and it would be pointless to put such a feature in game.

Ok thank you. I was wondering if this would happen, as it's not an open bolt weapon.

Alright that aside I guess they eventually plan to use a modified mosin animation instead as that loads a stripper clip, though it does rack a bolt.

Isn't it possible at all,to make people reload 2 magazines on the SKS Simonov?
According to the game Vietcong the SKS is using silverlooking bullets and 2 small magazines, and the Vietcong game is based on real capabilities of the weapons.

Just my question.

I was going to say something to this effect. It was a while ago that I last used an SKS (man are they fun :p ) but all I remeber was reloading them with single rounds I kept thinking "man if that bolt comes forward I'm going to loose a finger". The bolt on that thing is rather violent 8-) If I had a choice between a stripper clip vs. single rounds I would choose the clip (partly because it's easier and the fact that it's called "stripper".... hmmm, oh yea work it)

Second issue I see with this is where are the bullets coming from? You would basically have to pull them out of an existing clip, I don't know if the game can keep track of all this i.e. your down to your last clip that has only 6 rounds in it since you already picked 4 bullets from it.
