Earlier today I had this bug in which I would load a map and all of a sudden the game would lock up on me, the mouse wouldn't move and the keyboard wouldn't work so I had to shut the computer down manually and restart it. That's not the problem... I've had this bug before and I've found that the only way to fix it is to uninstall and then reinstall BF2. So I did that (and I reinstalled everything correctly). Now I have a problem in which I click on the desktop icon (both PR and vanilla BF2) and nothing pops up. I've waited for almost an hour and all that happens is that the game makes like it's about to go on (the BF2 logo pops up and everything) but then it just throws me back to my desktop and will never get me to the acctuall game. If anyone has any ideas on how to help me it would be very apprechiated.

BTW this happened to me and out of frustration I ended up reformatting my operating system.
