AI-Guards

I heard that it would be possible to fill up servers with more than 64 AI-Players.
Couldn't we use them to guard the mainbases?
Moderate AI-guards that have a larger spawntime and dosen't respawn when the mainbase becomes assailable. Not basically to kill all invaders, mainly to detect incoming enemys for real players by shooting at the aggressors.
It would avoid the feeling of an abandoned base.

Couldn't find something related to this in the ASST and the search function didn't disgorge anything.

That depends on the server hardware.

But I would like to know if it's basically possible.

They don't really need to do much though do they. Just stand in random (so as not to become predictable) defensive positions around main base and artillery etc. Would they cause that much lagg? Say 10 bots each side for a 64player game...

They would be useful. It pisses me off how a spec ops or engineer can just run up to a battery of artillery and blow them up without encountering any resistance from the "gunners"

This sounds interesting! They wouldn't even have to move that much. Just some dude in a tower or window or something. Yells at you, lobs grenades, takes potshots and maybe lets the team know their assets are under attack.

Sounds like a locked NPC with VERY low AI needs.

Why lock them? Give them Petrols. I'm sure a mapper could just map their Navigational Meshes to walk around in circles, then layer the patrol pattern for every flag so they'd act the same no matter what was going on.

The shooting code is already there, the walking code is already there, just need to put 'em in.

That'd be pretty interesting to see ingame.
