They arent for the Iraqi forces, they are American vehicles, the link I provided explaining them would have told you that ;) Currently the Marines are the first ones to have acquired the vehicles, with the Army being second in line to acquire them as well...

Of course they are, the US seem to be trying to get back all the money they invested in the SADF in the 80s. First the Milkors, now this. Soon enough we'll see US troops carrying R8s and Vecktor SS-77/Mini-SS MGs! :p

Oh, you're no fun. Americans are usually outraged when its pointed out just how questionable some of the regiemes the US government has propped up over the years are. Oh well...

Yeah well Im not your typical American lol. Loyal to the government yes. Patriot yes. Behind the war yes, but thinks America is the greatest no. Think they are one of the best? Yes. I only get pissed when people stereotype us haha

Well. technically it's not our fault (EUpeans) we stereotype, americans kinda make it easy for us. ;)

LOL
Like we can't make the same argument for any individual nation in the EU ?
Please remember most of our major metro areas have the same population as an EU member.
Not to mention that we are descendants of the UK / EU .

Just watch "American Chopper" or some other waco program involving americans, workshops, and cameras.. Too easy..
There is a difference between TV americans and real Americans...
but back to the thread, unless those are being used alot in Iraq (and you have proof) it probably doesn't belong.

Since the conflict in the game is based several years into the future; these vehicles may be available in sufficient numbers by that time. It would be an interesting addition to the game when there is more time for this sort of stuff.

I believe Canada also ordered a very small amount of these, don't remember what exact role they'll be filling or if they'll even be in theatre.

Dangerously close to a lock due to trolling and off-topic, but this was handled pretty well. However, don't push it.

The Buffalo and Cougar are being acquired and used extensively by US EOD and Combat Engineer units from the US Army and Marines, and I believe that USAF EOD units and Navy EOD teams are acquiring or have acquired them, too. The UK is also looking at the Cougars for armored patrol, to replace or supplement the "snatch" Land Rovers, IIRC. In US service, the Cougar has the designation of Mine-resistant Ambush-protected Vehicle (MRAV), Joint Explosive Ordnance Disposal Rapid Response Vehicle (JERRV) or Hardened Engineer Vehicle (HEV). The Buffalo is designated the Mine-Protected Clearance Vehicle (MPCV).

Haven't second sourced it, but from what I understand the Army became interested in them when it was learned that the Marines had 300 IED attacks on their Cougars and didn't lose a single man.

If that's true, the troops seem to like them and they didn't have to be developed independently, I certainly would not Monday-morning quarterback their selection, even if I had the credentials to.

As to their use in game, though, the Cougars in-game function would just be as a wheeled APC, like the UK Saxon. I'm not sure if its mine/other explosive resistant properties could be coded with this fossilized turd of an engine, so I'm not sure how unique in terms of performance we could actually make it. And since we don't (and can't) have large minefields and the IEDs are command activated rather than activated autonomously, like a mine, the Buffalo clearance vehicle wouldn't really serve a gameplay purpose at all.

I don't think we'll be seeing the Cougars in game anytime soon, if at all, but they haven't been suggested before, so I must give you credit for that. Welcome aboard, WD. :)

thanks Eddie for the welcome wagon

Yes that is true about the marines suffering 300 IED attacks in them an not losing a single man. I heard that on Fox News the other day when they were talking about budget cut backs and the dems cutting funding for the Cougars and Buffalo. The Republicans were raisin hell about it because of the results they had seen with the Cougar and Buffalo and the Army putting orders for them...
