Mining- The Bad

Oh the bad times....

Image

Don't you just hate it. What REALLY annoys me though, especially with it happening in a bloody BETA (I'd expect fairly mature people), is when people punish you for THEM running over your mine.

Oh wells.

Everyone knows that the mine warning icon means "floor it, and steer down the middle of the road!" I mean, that's what they all do!

I just got kicked from a server for teamkilling. Someone spotted an armor collumn headed my way, so I I spent 7 minutes laying down a minefield in front of a cp, and I put 4 packs of c4 down in fron of them. Then I ran and hid. I then surveyed my handiwork and proudly thought about how I was going to stop all of those tanks. Then a friendly APC drives right up to my minefield and 2 engineers pop out. They start clearing a path through my mines. This was kind of irritating, but I had an ammo supply nearby, and I figured that if I hurried, the mines could be set up again. Then a full car goes speeding on by the APC. I was spamming "MINESMINESMINES!", but the driver payed no attention. Somehow he managed to run over several mines at once and not only was everyone in the car killed, the resulting explosion killed the 2 engineers, the heavy AT passing buy, and the 4 ppl in the APC. My score plummeted down to about -200. Then, the enemy 2 tanks, 1 APC, and a ressuply vehicle drive over my no longer existant minefield. Not only did those morons rob me of my points, they also robbed me of the satisfaction of all of those kills. I was kicked about 10 seconds later for teamkilling. :gloomy:

You know you get negative points for TK's even if they don't punish, right? Punish only affects the punish auto kick, and then only if that feature is turned on. Everybody can forgive and you'll still end up with a negative score.

I know, it's more the cheek of it that infuriates me. :p

I have definitely killed more team-mates than enemy with mines.

A good idea, (well what I do anyway, must be good then) is to have the mines as more of decoy so to speak, causing the vehicle to change route slightly so it's close 2 hidden IED's then BOOM.

Is there any way the devs can make it so mines dont count as a TK? It could just count as being killed by some random explosion like when a fiery car blows up next to you.

I too have had this happen to me on more then one occasion and even though its much less frequent in PR then vBF2 (my god....the horror.....the horror........), its still very aggrivating, escpecially when they punish you.

The only downside i could see to this is some prick placing mines around the friendly base or next to newly spawned vehicles in an attempt to be a jerkoff.

I like mines and I think eliminating the TK part of it is a great idea.
The jerkoffs will always be there so that shouldn't be a reason not to do it.

Same thing happened to me, I was expecting IFVs to rush into the Basrah, made a minefield on one lane (other was clean so people could go around the mines), I tell it to the team in Capslock text, then a technical drives over one, one guy forgives (prolly the driver I hope) and the other insta-punishes..and we were in the same squad...

Also happened, that I got a negative score (no kills, a lot of deaths, one land mine TK), then I get into a technical, put IEDs on it, want to drive off, then the Brit mine goes off under it, and I kill myself and both the technicals (there were two) and get kicked for negative score...came back into the server after 3 mins, squadmates laughed :p

Ah thats nothing if you think some people ruin the beta, one round some bugger ( lets just say his name is *VC* slunkypete ) decided to get on the stationary AA in MEC base in kashan, and TK everyone on a server without any punish TK kicks, so he racked up -760 teamwork points, got votekicked, racked up another -100, got votekicked...

Then said he was doing us a favor.... thankfully a few of us knew how to handle the situation ( L-AT'd the AA station  )

Its really bad when people come to the beta and do things like that.... and my pet peeve is when people surround a spawn car and just point thier guns at where your head spawns... ( lol got them by going ambusher, exiting car, going prone and dropping c4 ... suicide )

On topic a little more, I just don't pay attention to mines on the road half of the time... im just hauling *** and see this black blur and don't think much of it when im being shot by an APC O.o ( playing Jihad music :D )

he also goes by en1469 slunkypete
I have to confess
Last night while eating dinner and watching "the children of men" I used about 4 different screennames to TK him over and over on iGi al basrah.
The dude has a piss poor attitude and is another internet tough guy who is sure he can kick everyone's *** IRL.
Then on the DVB server I held his team off in a 5 v 1 battle on seven gates then told him to F off.
I know I know ...revenge TK is just lowering yourself to his level but I was there on Kashan and ironically we were about to lose until he TK'd your whole team allowing us to regroup and win the game.

Never argue with stupid people, they just drag you down to their level and beat you with experience

I very rarely punish for a TK, even if people don't appologize, it's just part of the game unless it's to steal a kit. I hate when you TK and within 3 seconds your punished! Come on give me a few seconds to say sorry!! :x

would think you could disable the kill points for mines, as they did for molitov's, but you wouldn't get credit for enemy kills either, and some rounds that's the only kill points I get :p

that really cracked me up...srsly. If it wasnt that long I think I would sig quote it. You're so unlucky. That blows man...

But yeah, dev could make it just like in vBF2 where arty teamkills doesnt actually count as teamkills IIRC.

I personally think punishing should be gotten rid of.

Can I get an AMEN brother?

AMEN

Personally I opt out of all voting and will only punish if you don't appologize for a direct fire TK (mines never), not that it does anything other than make me feel like I've done something.

I feel the pain of the original poster.

Unfortunately, there will always be "internet bad asses" that don't know the first thing about situational awareness who run/drive around carelessly as if they have no clue as to what's going on. They play like cavemen with a club/firearm changing, "kill, kill, kill, kill" and that is all that is on their mind. So when they do something stupid and get themselves kills (like not paying attention to a mind field before they go charging into it) they are unable to take responsibility for their own stupidity and want to blame everyone else.

This is a character flaw shared by way too many of our fellow humans. Sadly, no amount of game coding can fix this. However, the first person who is able to code an idiot filter for servers, will earn my eternal ........something or other.

Happily putting up mines on the road and gleefully awaited enemy tanks, one of my own pulled up behind me. Turned around and saw the turrent scan after the engineer and then placing it dead center on me and typing: Move those mines.

Man did I work fast. And he kept it fixed on me the entire time.
