lesson 1. The BFEditor site. http://bfeditor.org/forums/
lesson 2, the search button. http://bfeditor.org/forums/index.php?act=Search
lesson 3, search what you want to look for, try sometyhing like "heightmap +format", then press the search button to begin the search.
lesson 4, results. The number 1 result in thetopic is: http://bfeditor.org/forums/index.php?sh ... ap++format

In there if you bother to look you will see this pic

and if you look at the top you will see a "File Type: 16bit (heightmap)

also if you look more down you will find
Full List of Features

- Loads 16bit or 8bit heightmaps in the RAW format (as used for terrain heights, material maps, shadow maps and vegetation maps); they must be square
if you are still not sure, try looking on more search pages, its really that easy!

1 - I did search
2 - I searched "Heightmap Settings"
3 - I saw that but it seems to be for opening
4 - the only options for saving are "Header" and then the "Mac" "IBM PC" so the 16bit/8bit doesnt help me :P
