Incremental throttle for vehicles?

I just saw the brake thread and had a quick idea.
Is it possible to do incremental throttles for BF2? If so, would you bother?
Incremental throttles as in Red Orchestra, that is...
Just a quick question

argh they annoy me to no end in that game, its just so hard to be precise with them especially when soloing because no one wants to get it.
but really i think that incrimental throttles + ejod or any other city = road tks when you back up and navigation problems.
are they realistic any more though i mean its not as if ive driven a tank but i would have thought it would have changed by now...

In RO there is an option to turn them off, maybe this would be a good thing in PR, if the option to turn it off was there too?

Use a joystick
Seriously, though, it's probably hardcoded.

But how do you know?
If it is, then the answer is 'no'. I'm just asking the question.

Yes, it is hardcoded.

OK then side question,
How do you all know what is and isn't hard coded?
Do you all have experience with BF2 editor or C++ or something?

There simply isn't a way to modify stuff like that in BF2. You can't code a whole new control scheme, and that's it. You could try to hack something up with the current control schemes available, but I doubt it would work very well.

Hold down W and press J, K or L = Autodrive
Incremental throttle? Use a Joystick throttle.

And Auto Walk.
Wish I had that feature in the real world.

I just use my game pad if I want to drive slowly, only downside to that is I cant use my mouse to look around if I do.

battleship mod does have this, and use the joystick, you can use it to drive the crows humvee at 45% speed and you have the best mobile gun platform.

Well, don't press Shift and drive only with W key...

Thats not incremental. thats not the point
So anyway, I take it that the final answer to my quick question is 'mod team aren't particularly interested'
out.
