Maybe I'm jumping the gun here, so feel free to close/delete if you think I am too close to the bone but the news of the Hamas / Fatah fighting in Gaza last night left me wondering how a map would work out if it was Insurgent v Insurgent. For one thing the civilian class would get interesting...

Hey ... he's right that's not a half bad idea. I suppose it'd have to be Insurgents with somewhat different models/skins though. Otherwise it'd be a bloody free for all, TKs everywhere!

Well, one thing that struck me about the footage was that the majority of Hamas personnel had AK-variant weapons, whereas the majority of Fatah seemed to be running with M16/M4 variants.

That and the fact that Hamas seemed to have their faces covered whereas Fatah did not.

Fatah is backed by the west.. armed and funded.

Hamas is not.. and needs to keep their ID's covered or they might end up in Guantanamo Bay.. or Poland!

I like the idea, maybe reskinning the militia?

well, the only way it would work is if the dev's go and make new skins for the other insurgent team, set the weapons and make maps for this...


though this could be done by a small group of pubs. i would do it, but i got no modding experience and my graphics card is down. be cool, but i don't see it happening.

+the insurgent's have slightly different kit configurations (not to much, don't want to make it completely into a US vs INS technology)
+vehicles can be used by both teams (OMG vBF2!!!)

I'd like to discuss the merits of Insurgent vs Insurgent Game mechanics, not get the thread locked.

How would the civilian class work? My suggestion is no re-skinning so you cannot tell "Team A" Civilians apart from "Team B" Civilians. It would also mean that you would see more civilians "on the streets".

I think this is a good idea but the forces bot have to be unique and not just insurgents with US weapons

I think it could be an interesting new game mode, and as ins dont use the kit request system it would probubly be easier to impliment than MEC vs Insurgents (then again, it would probubly result in a "team 1" insurgent faction, who could fight the MEC, could it not?)

I'm usually one of the first to slam a blackeagle1992 thread or post but...

I'm willing to cut him a little slack here. I don't necessarily agree with how he said what he said but he lives in Israel. He lives in a different environment then most of us and has a history that we don't really know. This topic probably cuts closer to the bone and brings in great deal more then we could understand. So for that reason I think we should not be so quick to jump on him for this. Blackeagle1992 just try to use a little more mature language when talking about such things

Correct me if I'm wrong here but are not Hamas and Fatah both elected political parties in Palistine? How is that insurgent vs. insurgent. Furhtermore the Fatah have actual security forces, not very insurgent like.

There has been fighting between different factions in Iraq , Sunees and Shietes (sorry don't know the correct spelling). I think this would involve allot of work for the devs though as you would need to insurgent factions that look similar but not identical. I like the MEC vs. Insurgent idea.

Well, we could have one Insurgent faction with the 0.5 Insurgent and Spec Op models and another with the models from BF2: SF, the MEC Spec Op and Medic, if Im correct, those two have ski masks...
