part of the model?

what is a .3ds file?

A 3d model...

It would say "I can't skin" if I actually could skin. I couldn't even get it to render properly, as if the normals where all on the wrong side... You know, those thingies. Hell, I don't even know what it's all called!

Same, that's why I was wondering could some export the things so I can give a wack at it. It's for a learning experience. (The building is very simple as you can see)

is that 3ds max? ive skinned some buildings for sim city 4 that uses b.a.t which is just a slight adition to gmax which i presume is along some lines similar there should be a button somewhere that says apply uvw map somewhere, do it for all pieces individualy then there should be some add textures globy looking thing add then then adjust the way the texture is applied ie. cylindrical planar box etc. then tweak the repeat function till its got the desired finish.

seriously though go to http://www.simtropolis.com there are people there that are beyond brilliant with 3ds max and can create buildings so good you actually think they are a photo before they post other wise. look up simfox.

no, it cost some mulah. gmax is partly the same program but it isn't as good... blender is probably the best freeware out there, but it takes alot of practice
