has there been a slackness or drop off recently?

i dunno but playing some of the pr servers i find my self increasingly on teams which have no comanders, sls keep leaving and re-joining squads, few squads using voip, people wandering off all over the place...

its getting a little fustrating knowing that going into a new round you are certain to lose because i kid you not every grid of ogt on the chinese side had like 3 random people in it just walking around, no body actually going for any flags...

there are like /9 people unasigned that actively dont want to join squads...

am i just really unlucky or have others noticed this depreciation in team play in 0.5?

It seems about right but there's always people with thier own agenda or helping in an indirect way, giving some kind of support. I rarely find VOIP being used unfortunately but I only stick to 3 servers so I can't speak broadly about it.

I have to agree i was on a public a few days ago, joined a squad called VOIP and behold, no voice comms....

i blame it on the open beta! most of the good "teamplayers" are playing the open beta but i tend to see a growing trend and cant say im not guilty of vehicle whoring. soo this leaves a group of people playing .5 still that may still be discovering PR and thus the TM might not be the best on .5???

Well I haven't played in a week or 2 so everyone will notice the drop in game play. :D

I havent been playing PR as much lately. I have been playing the Beta but there is usally only two servers with people on them. After playing the Beta going back to 0.5 is difficult. I think people are just reducing their PR time until 0.6 final is released.

i suppose its down to the beta but i dont want pr getting a bad name from whats left of 0.5 now before 0.6 arrives, if the betas still far off im afraid that all the new players will get totally the wrong idea about the mod because quite frankly 0.5 is craptastic right now in how it plays with the people left. at this rate people will dl, see less teamwork then in karkand io and leave the mod...

I think its the other way around

I see a lot of teamwork in the OB. Yes, there are the usual SLs that you can yell at for 5 minutes and get no response whatsoever, and there are sniper whores who constantly keep finding out that the sniper and marskman kits are all gone, and do they want to go to the brig? But besides that, I found that most people who join the squads I lead are pretty responsive and responsible - if you need three people to set up an RP, you'll get them in most squads.

And yeah, I don't really want to go back to .5 now, with its inferior tanks, and 90000 different base kits (which means more yelling at people to get a medic and a rifleman in the squad).

Got to say VOIP is fantastic and when used right is devastating!

I was up a crane in a docks area last night killing the enemy with ease and it was beginning to annoy them. I’m not bad with the old scope. Anyway they fought in to retake the area and did not count on me being up there I got about 16 kills one after another before we got back in control but With VOIP

I could direct my team mates.
Tell them watch out and saved a few lives
And they returned the favour as the enemy decided to come for me and before I could nail the guy there was two but one got by to the ladder. I called for anyone to kill the guy and he was dead in seconds.

VIOP I miss it when its not there, but I try and get the squad to talk been in the situation were no one was talking so I thought ok they don’t have a mic…. Then I started just giving a heads up as they might not be able to talk but can hear me and then bag they were all talking……..

I think it is OB.
I don't play .5 unless there is less than 20 people in OB and that is pretty rare.

probably a by product of some of the more hardcore players spending time on the open beta.

once that wraps up and releases we'll see some new community members and players, then many of the window shoppers will go away and a couple of weks after the release we'll start to get back into some good quality gaming on a consistent basis.

bear in mind also that are a lot of young players out there. I'm 26 and I still find the player guide pretty big to chew on when you first find this mod.

Add to that that the young 'uns may not speak english very well and the gameplay goes even further downhill.

I have to say though, the times I played PR last (which was quite a while ago) most people were very useful in teams and on the VOIP all the time.

There's usually a sudden shortage of regulars when new betas our out since they want to try out something new and see all the cool new features. It's only natural I guess.

OB. The difference in draw distance btwn .5 & .6 is so much (for troops) that I can't stand to play .5 anymore. Haven't really been playing .6 either OB is taking forever.

Uff, a bit off topic, but is there a way to be a good SL without having people TK you for bruising their 12 year old ego or players, that constantly go request Sniper/Marksman/Pilot, even when you told them NOT TO do that?

I really miss the old skool PR players sometimes on 0.5, last time I told my gunner to stop firing the Cobra gun for nothing and wasting ammo, guy gets out TKs me and the Cobra, then teamkills me a couple of times again and leaves the server. Not to mention a lot of N and F words...

Obviously you deserved it

The thing that gets me are the people in their own little world. I will ask them over voip, politely, to attack or defend on my marker = no responce. Do this a few times then kick them = he rejoins. I type in text a few more times to see if he reads and responds to me = nothing. Either he is extremely focused on his on little battle or just doesn't give a $hit. At least if he Tk's you, you know he's listening

What, for saying "Please, stop wasting ammo?"

F*ckers dont even have VoIP, and I often see a lot of one-man Cobras...no cooperation between gunner/pilot whatsoever...

On 0.6 I ask the pilot to get in position, so I can release the TV missile, then if he could turn a bit so I could engage with the (really, really odd) Apache gun and nothing out of it..then we got shot down, I ask him, why he hovered (he was going 5 Kmph over the main AA at Mosque :roll :) and get a responce "stfu all you did was bitchin"...

Seriously, if I role play a bit as a gunner, they already call it "bitchin"?
Maybe I should scream in the mic "z0mg, tUrn 4rounD, I sPot1ng enemy n00bs, leMM3 gun the cr4P out74 th3m!!!111" ...

Guess what I saw on FpSFocus2 today... An Apache with no WSO....... hovering above me (an insurgent!). The stupidest thing was that I was right by an AA gun. So I grabbed the controls and shot that eagle down ;)

To be fair, the Apache is buggy at the moment, and the gun appears floating in the middle of the screen when looking through gunner optics, making it impossible to aim precisely, and discouraging most people from gunning. On the other hand, using the FFARs is a sure way to commit civilian genocide...
