Yes well I'm new to the game and all I have seen for a tutorial is the black hawk 101 thing on youtube. I need some know how to play the game cause I would really love to play this game, and it not being like the noobish battlefield two I seem to be so attracted to. Anybody wish to help me?

Also check the video guides. Here's a nice compilation topic of them at bf2s

Seek me out in-game, I would be happy to help - but read the player guide first.

First and formost when you join a server is join a squad. Some servers kick people for not joining squads within a limit. I dont expect the new people to be squad leaders or woese yet commanders. Just listen to the SL's orders and read the guide and all will do good :)

Yeah I've been reading that for a while. I'm only about 40% done with the game download and awaiting through bittorrent.
I've read mostly about squad team work and stuff like that, ambush is my favorite yet, seeing as how I am a sniper of sorts, I love to lay in wait to shoot a target or forwarn a squad of an approaching enemy.

To be honest, there really isnt any neeed for snipers, since there are vision effects, when youre shot at, so you cant really respond back the vBF2 style: Look ,M249 *shoots the gunner*
PR's would be more like "M249! Take cover or get ripped apart!" since it does that :D

And the rifles have a good 300 m range, so you can easilly pin down the enemy from a far...

Get it through your head that you don't need to fire the instant you see the enemy. Opportunist fire frequently backfires on your squad.

We have Rally Points in PR and so we can keep spawning at seemingly random locations to the enemy. We aren't stuck with the basic CP's anymore.

In v0.6 we see commander assets now with the ability to lay and build firebases and bunkers which both become a spawn point for all your team.

Shape, shine, shadow, sound, sillhouette. Think carefully about battlefield movement and how you can ambush enemy squads taking them out. Actively search out enemy Rally Points (bunkers, firebases and apc's all provide a team spawn point)

Use armour to support troops, not to lead charges.

Arrange misdirection and covering fire to allow troops to encircle and cut off enemy troops. With the advent of larger maps in this mod things are changing for the better. People don't want to really be walking for 5-10 mins each time they die uselessly.

and if you are new to the mod, you might want to consider being medic or rifleman as your initial class choosing. Support your squad and if they are veteran players they'll provide the rest of the combat duties needed.

You get points now for support classes, PR frequently uses ABR Alternate Battle Ranking on many servers to get ranks, stats and relelvant stuff like that. You will not feel too left out not trying to kill the enemy every single second of your soldiers life on the battlefield!

As that is what I ment I usually snipe long ranges in normal Bf2, and use my pistol for mid range to short, and the knife as a funny thing to mess around with. I love my .50, but its way under powered, and should be semi auto
Also I love how you put it "Look M249, take cover or you'll be ripped apart!"

I thank you for the information.

Also, before you go online and start jumping into choppers and jets, get some practise offline. Jets are rare in PR, so helicopters are probably the easiest to practise with.

Start a map, press "`" (minus the quotation marks) and type in "sv.NumPlayersNeededToStart 1" (type it exactly as I put it, minus the quotation marks again.

You NEVER want that to happen because you WILL lose.

Yes I mean that is normal bf2 with the extreme rush and jump on grenades to see if you blow up. I have always wanted to play a map of Bf2, or even counter strike for all I care and I hate that game, that was completely organized and not just, He lets rush and try and shock paddle people to death. Sure that would be funny, but I would rather still be able to take down a target from 300m away. I would love that, but the kit I would probably play the most is support, mainly for the amount of fire power it can lay down to cover team mates as they run for cover.

I agree with that completely. I have seen the black hawk instruction videos and I know what to do, but I need to get used to them before I can fly them online. As for planes, I'm an expert bf2 pilot, but I dont like to do that most of the time due to the over powered Tunguskas and anti- air stuff that can one hit my plane.

Oh and by the way, in .6 i believe you can take targets over 700m away on certain maps?

it's somewhere on the forums :p

I know you arnt trying to doubt my abilities, I know that PR is much more different than BF2, and I need to practice at getting better in the PR and I have it for about a week so yeah, I think I should have no problem doing that.

If you're in the EU and need someone to help you with the choppers give me a buzz. Most people thank me for my flying :p
