Planes and Vapor Trails

Is it possible to remove the vapor trails on the planes? IMO, it looks highly unrealistic to see these planes flying at such low altitudes and often getting these trails.

To tell you the truth, i've never noticed them before.

But if they are, I completely agree that it is unrealistic at that altitude.

If they aren't hardcoded, the developers also probably have more important things to do anyways unfortunately.

How do they look cool? How many times do you see planes in real life flying at these altitudes with vapor trails? If anything, it makes PR more resemble BF2v.

How many times have you seen two real jets in combat at 150 metres above ground?

I think it balances the issue between View Distance and speed.

If you mean the ones coming off the wingtips, it's realistic.
Check this out (near the very end of the video).

well you need medium effects to turn them on. (don't know if you have that or not)

and by the way since we don't have any radar or different views to see where the enemy planes are then we need this as a way of seeing where they are.

I think those vaportrails you're talkin about are smoketrails from hit jets.. they go from brightwhite to darkblack with flames and indicate the health of the aircraft. they got nothing to do with condesated water.

I thought the vapor trails you see on fighter aircraft were a product of the thrust and G forces where the contrails you see at high altitude were similar but not the product of G force but rather atmospheric ?

I think they look cool and since I have seen that video and others like it I regard it as realistic.

IIRC there are even trails, when the jets have full health.

But like motherdear said:

If you are Refering to the Vapour Emmited from the Wing tips Yes they are Real, Any Aircraft Performing manvours at Speed No Matter Altitude will emit them but For Losing Sight then you Deserve to be Shot down because as they Say:
"Lose Sight, Lose the Fight"

You Must be able to Judge and Guess fast, these are the Traits of a Pilot. But the Traits of a Ace Is to know what your Enamy is gonna do before he even thinks about it, So Pack your Guns and turn that Goddamn Top Gun music Off and Call "Guns! Guns! Guns!"

On bf2? the one whos wins is the one who doesn't crash.

The One who Crashes then needs More Pratice then :D
And Yes even on KM View Distance if you can call it right and Judge Correctly

Well, I guess it's realistic, but it doesn't seem as if they should be happening as much as they do in PR. I live near an active Naval Air Base where military jets are flying near here alot, and I never see these trails. Granted, they aren't going full speed, but it seems as if the trails in BF are a bit exaggerated. If you watch that youtube video that someone posted earlier in this thread, you'll see that the trails are rather short and last for a very short amount of time compared to those in BF.

For anyone who is still unclear, here is what I'm referring to:

In real life, whether or not wingtip contrails would appear would be influenced by humidity, air pressure and temperature, and the movement of the wing at the particular moment. In other words, it's not really something that you can simulate realistically in BF2.

Yeah, that's true. But since it doesn't happen as much (or as exaggerated) as portrayed in BF as in RL, I was wondering if it would be a good idea to have it removed altogether.

Better yet, does anyone know if there's away for me to have them not show up in my game? It's really just a visual issue for me, nothing more, nothing less.

Stop playing maps with jets in them ;P lol
